    Hi guys

In an excel spreadsheet under 'File - show properties', one of the properties is 'last modified'. I need to know exactly what constitutes 'modified'. Is it just saving the file? For instance, if I created a file on a Saturday, opened it on a Sunday and saved it without doing anything to it, would that constitutue 'modified', and would the date in properties reflect that? I need to know as it's relevant to a disciplinary hearing.

    Thanks

File modification date is an attribute of file or folder that indicates when it was modified last time. When the file content is modified and saved, the last modified date stamp is set to correspond with the time of changes done. The purpose of this attribute is to show when the last changes of file or folder were done.
Like all file attributes, last modified date and time is recorded in file system, not in the file contents. This file property does not interfere with the time stamps that are stored in the file itself. Various applications put their own date and time records in the file contents or meta-tags like Microsoft Office products.
    Note:
When opening spreadsheet files like .xls in Microsoft Excel, file modification date and time is automatically set to current. If the document is closed without modification, original modification time and date is restored.

It's pretty irrelevant, it's trivial to modify the modification date manually, it's not proof of anything
