I'm in the market for a new laptop and have it whittled down to either

My question is really, am I being silly to consider buying the more expensive less powerful laptop just cos it looks a bit sleeker? I will be mainly using the laptop for general browsing, spreadsheets and maybe some matlab - nothing too onerous. I do a lot of finite element modelling but i will be running this remotely on my desktop.

Any opinions/thoughts v welcome.
