FSA Divisional Comparison

Just thought it might be beneficial to compare the 4 leagues, see which is the most competitive and that sort of thing. I swear I'm not doing this because of the great start I've made or anything!!

This is open to anyone to pull whatever stats etc they want from it, so feel free. For a start, anyway, here's the 4 leagues themselves.....

    Premiership
    Championship
    League One
    League 2

    .............. Pre - Cha - L1 - L2
    Highest -- 328 - 320 - 326 - 362
    Lowest -- 278 - 259 - 270 - 269
    Pts Diff --- 50 -- 61 - 56 - 93
    Average - 306 - 310 - 309 - 307
    Top 5 Av. 333 - 329 - 328 - 340

Okay, that table was a pain in the hole, but it's done now.

League two is where it is at!

Weird that the top of the premier league is less than the top five average

Yeah, there's a couple of anomalies throughout the leagues. In this case it's because the 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed teams have a higher overall pts score than the leader, who essentially got lucky with his matches. Sure, in the Premier league, the 2nd highest pts scorer has only won half his matches!!!

It was only a matter of time before the jealous minions created a thread like this, we'll see what it looks like at the end of the season:D;)

Yeah, i was afraid of the accusations that the only reason i'm getting involved in this is because I've gotten off to a cracking start, but feck it. It's open source, anyway. Everybody can pick whatever stats they want from the lot.

Edited the OP to include the championship link.

While we're at it, the FSA Qualifying League's leader (*ahem*) is on 351, top 5 average 345...

And a lad who played with Porthmadog in the Welsh league once won the European golden boot, he was no Marco Van Basten and you are no swiper the fox, you little upstart:mad::p

Honestly the reason I was delighted to get into the Premier is because it will be so hard to do it by getting promoted year on year. Oh and this is the league ye all want to be in:pac:

Okay, so every team in all 4 divisions has now been beaten at least once, with every team in the Prem having tasted defeat at least twice.

On the other side of things, everybody has also won at least one match, with League 1's bottom placed teams having 2 wins each.

The alabama hotpockets in League one are leading the pace with a measly 375 points, while that sort of score would only be good enough for ~11th place in League 2.

Chic's XI are the most hard done by, having amassed a whopping 406 pts but being beaten three times and knocked into 5th place in their league. This would be enough to top 2 of the other leagues and place second in the remaining one.

Early days yet though, and all still to play for.

    Lowest -- 395 - 365 - 390 - 373

    Average - 441 - 440 - 443 - 436
    Top 5 Av. 463 - 460 - 467 - 484

So League 2 has the highest average of its top 5 teams.
League 1 has the highest average of all its teams.
Championship has the biggest difference between top and bottom teams.
Prem is the tightest of all of the leagues, with the difference between Champions and bottom being a measly 83 points.

Some weird stats for this week:
Dynamo Bumbles 09 are the biggest giant killers - 9th in league 2 with a measly 383 points (lower than the lowest scoring team in L1 and Prem. The highest scoring overall team, Bunch of Goons, currently lie 4th in the Championship.....3 points outside the promotion spots. In the Premiership, the team in joint 5th (IDontKnowWhatImDoing) have amassed just 3 points more than the team who are rock bottom (Leeds the Way). Leeds the way have a cumulative points difference of -56, meaning they their average loss is by just 7 points. This includes one loss by two pts, and two losses by a single point  Talk about ripped off. There have been 3 draws so far, one in each league except League 2.

Interesting that the highest overall scorer, and the lowest are both in League 2. The overall averages in each league are as you'd expect, but the Top 5 average is all over the place. A few peeps at the top of Prem getting lucky with their matches, methinks!!

Get your stats out for the lads!!

Still no draws in League 2, but both the Prem and Champo have a team that has drawn twice so far.

Bunch of Goons have dropped to 5th, despite amassing a total of 742pts (2nd in the 4 divisions). They have 73 pts more than the leader of their league.

Highest ranked team with <600pts: Kilburns Kids - 12th in L1 with 599

Lowest ranked team with 700+ pts: Jorneymen - 9th in the Prem with 701
(Journeymen also with the wooden spoon award for 21pts in week 5)

It's tough at the top award: FriendsInLoewPlaces - No fewer than 4 teams joint top in the Prem, with a further 4 teams within 5 pts, and 6 more within 6 pts of the leaders. That is 14 teams within two wins of being temporary Premiership Champions 2014/15.

Highest placed team on <1000 pts = the Craggy Islanders in 7th (980)

End of season time, and there's not an awful lot left to be decided. First Up:

    FSA Premier League
    Top
    Champions|Zarquon|77pts
    2nd|iroced |70pts
    3rd | Swiper the Fox|69pts

Buala bos to Zarquon for taking the inaugural FSA Premier League title

    Bottom
    15th | sooner or later | 47pts
    16th | dathijjj | 46pts
    17th |Science Nerd | 46pts
    18th | Iago | 44pts
    Relegated| Roan.h | 31pts
    Relegated | Jeju | 31pts

Sooner or later needs a loss and a 50 point swing to be brought into the relegation places, so he should be safe. The others are all in danger of dropping to the Championship though.

    FSA Championship
    Top
    Champions|Bo-sco|67pts
    2nd|skippy15|64pts
    3rd|tom k|64pts
    4th|who 8 paul?|62pts
    5th|Local Chap|62pts
    6th|Benimar|61pts

A good few still in the hunt, including KevIRL in 7th, though he needs a huge swing of fortune in his favour (possibly even a 70 point swing against Benimar, who he plays on the last day). Stranger things have happened.

    bottom
    Relegated|Greensausage|43pts
    Relegated|Aha Shake|40pts
    Relegated|Santi101|40pts

Nothing but heartache at this end of the table, folks. G'luck in League 1 next year.

    FSA League 1
    Top
    Champions|Biscuits 1988|84pts
    Promoted|Santry Red |67pts
    3rd | Weetabix|66pts
    4th |Always Next Season | 64pts
    5th | itsnotmyfault|63pts
    6th|Maigheo|63pts

Biscuits and Santry Red go up, last promotion spot still up for grabs, though a draw will do weetabix.

    Bottom
    17th|Finnharpsboy|42pts
    18th|The Neon Knight|42pts
    19th|Ag Imirt Pelle|42pts
    20th|Fowler87|40pts

All three relegation spots still up for grabs, then. But, The Neon Knight and Ag Imirt Pelle (whoever that is) play each other in a last day of the season dogfight.

    FSA League 2
    Top
    Champions|InishGael|78pts
    Promoted|wonski|72pts
    3rd|sanket|68pts
    4th|F1ngers|66pts
    5th|Copper pipe|66pts

One spot still remaining after wonski's heroics in the 2nd half of the season (more on that later). Sanket needs a win to go up.

    bottom
    18th|Shedite27|37pts
    19th|Axwell|37pts
    20th|Liamalone|33pts

Its goodbye to the league for the three lads at the wrong end of the table. Hopefully see you again in 2016/17.

Sorry about the lack of updates since Xmas, but it's pretty time consuming trawling through the 4 leagues, especially when people change their team name mid-season. The only reason i did it this morning is i'm supposed to be studying for exams. ;)

On the phone now so can't check / remember. Think it was higher than the prem average but as you say it's hard to make a fair comparison. The top 20 out of 58 is always going to be really high.

We'll just have to wait and see how they handle themselves in the world of head to head :)

Depending on how many get through to League 2... it's going to be incredibly hard to get promoted next year. With the talent coming in, and possibly quite a bit of it, it could leap frog a league or two when next years averages are done.

That's a bit freaky to be honest, it is almost perfect.

Re The qualifying league, the only fair comparison is to average all 58 teams, you could then compare that to the average of the top three leagues and see where the general standard is.

I think there are a few inactive teams towards the bottom of the 58... whereas I don't think there are any inactives in the main leagues... so a fairer comparison might be to exclude maybe 8 or so teams and do a Top 50.... Ara who cares :)

All that needs to be known is that it's an incredibly hard league to qualify from, there will be loads of solid players still playing non league footy next year.
