Lee Daniels has got Naomi Campbell to join his hip-hop series in a recurring role

The drama is set in the world of a hip-hop empire and stars Taraji P. Henson as Cookie Lyon, the ex-wife of Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), the head of a record label at the centre of the series.
Campbell will portray Camilla, an alluring woman involved in a steamy affair with the much-younger Hakeem (newcomer Bryshere Gray), the potential heir to Lucious' throne. Tasha exercises considerable influence over Hakeem.

Empire which will debut in early 2015, will feature original and current music, with Timbaland on board as a songwriter/music producer

Agreed, very strong pilot. Wasnt sold by the trailers but its very good. Like where the story is heading too.

Pretty good first episode.

Major Frank Ocean influence with the gay son storyline.

Taraji P Henson was outstanding in it.

I'll definitely be watching this again!

I loved the opener. It was a cracking episode that hit the ground running hard. they really nailed it. I'm not so positive about episode 2 though. It felt a bit more lightweight with drama for the sake of drama. Personally I felt while it was still worth watching it just wasn't quite the same level of an intelligent show that the pilot promised. Hopefully it's just a minor blip. They've a great setup so I just hope they're not going to piss it all away by going out and out soap. I read this as the Hip Hop Nashville so if they can mimick that show they'll be doing fine.

+1 It's just quality every week. I'm wondering though if they're ring fencing it as a 3 season show given that Lucious is only given 3 years to live with ALS? I suppose though they could always continue with Cookie and whoever is running the company by then but Lucious will be a big loss. It's the Hip Hop Dallas really.

Empire oozes sex, rhythm and soul. Lee Daniel's Empire is right up there with Scandel, How to get away with murder, The haves and the haves nots, and Power.
The cast and writing are OUTSTANDING! I can't wait for Wednesday nights.

One of the worst shows I've ever seen, yet bizarrely entertaining. First two episodes worth it for the cum bib, Bunky's chain and that painting of the son on the wall of his apartment alone.

Pretty sure that Empire may just be the best new show of the year. It's the best kind of throw away TV, trashy as hell, populated with great characters, some rather interesting stories and the music ain't bad to boot. It's the kind of show that will pull you in from the start but you feel won't really become must watch TV till some point in series two or three.

Having caught the finalé now all I can say is WOW! I like this show so much and, like the really great shows, I can't quite pin down just why. Sure, there are lots of great characters, brilliant music, incredibly OTT situations, like Dr. Dre sneaking out after hours and murdering some dude! and then there's sex and oneupmanship to boot. It's daft just how quickly some of the show's situations arose and were resolved. I think it was only 8 episodes but it packed a far bigger punch than most full lengths shows do in their entire season.

If Fox stick to this format and don't try to turn it into a full season show then they have a huge hit on their hands. Filler on a show like this just isn't really a good thing and the cherry on top here was the celebrity cameos like Snoop, Patti LaBelle and Rita Ora. They keep you watching even if nothing else does.

There's so much to recommend this show and I'm looking forward to it coming back.

Lets hope he does end up in prison, making false allegations are just as serious as real crimes, would he care if a innocent person went to jail over this, he was getting written out of the show and this was his attempt to stay in the lime light, he deserves jail for this.
