Not a girls night out more daytime activities.

We want to try something besides coffee. There are museums of course and the NCH. Anything you can think of?

I was thinking pampering/make-up make over but not sure of how to go about it?

    What else is there?

I had a great lunch time window shopping with a friend. Not going to big stores like Next or New Look, but small boutiques and jewellery shops and just browsing.

I was just thinking about this because it varys so much between my friends in Ireland and here in New Zealand.

In Ireland it's usually some kind of spa package- keep an eye out for deals. Usually consists of a treatment or two, access to pools/steam room etc and lunch with a glass of champagne. Afternoon tea in The Lord Mayor's Lounge in the Shelbourne or somewhere similar is lovely too. If you want pampering on a budget you can book treatments/make overs at most of the beauty counters in BT which are usually free with a purchase or sometimes free altogether.

Here in NZ it's usually a get together in someone's house or a picnic. We would sometimes do each other's beauty treatments. A really nice day or overnight trip is a hike in the mountains- there are lots of natural hot springs here that make for a nice treat- camp or stay in a DOC hut and bring wine and nice food.

On a nice day we go to the Iveagh Gardens with a picnic. Or one of my friends has a dog, sometimes we just go for a walk and a chat. Probably not the best time of year to be planning that though :) You could check out matinees in the Bord Gais as well. A day spa would be lovely for pampering - keep an eye on daily deals websites, they sometimes have good deals on massages, manicures etc. And if you are into shopping, the Kildare Village is always a nice day out.

I was all over the first one, but the second sounds awesome too!

Yeah I'd suggest looking at deals for spa things. There's always loads.
Or getting out somewhere nice like powerscourt then back for afternoon tea or spa or something or other

Sports? We go kayaking or hire a boat. Ireland has some spectacular coastline, best to see from the sea. Beach trip if it's sunny.

Pottery Painting Class - relaxed bit fun and some places might provide a glass of wine and some finger food.

    Paintballing

You could have a meetup where you do a clothes and accessories swapping session with each other (with items you were each going to otherwise donate) and give each other makeovers by doing each others makeup and hair. You could also give each other manicures/pedicures, do face masks and stuff.

Have a look for online coupons for spa treatment packages.

Salsa Dancing class (or whatever style you prefer that would be a bit of fun)

Karaoke Session somewhere for a laugh.

One of those places where you can do Ziplining and Climbing.

Cocktail Making Class or Cookery Class if any of you enjoy those things.

Bicycle Ride in scenic area followed by a picnic.

Fishing. I don't know your location but in some places you can hire a small boat for a day and get brought around fishing with someone available to help beginners.

See if there's any fun scavenger hunt or orienteering activities in your area.

    Horse Riding for the day.

One of my friends did pole fitness for her hen. It was fun and not at all sleazy.

If you're stuck in Dublin surfdock rents out kayaks and you can kayak around grand canal dock (just don't fall in!)

If you're a culture vulture there are sometimes lunchtime concerts in the NCH or/and The National Art Gallery. Both are great spots for lunch too, as are the museums. In summer you can find a beach and try boogie boarding or other easy waterside activities, or you can try out wakeboarding in Dublin Bay, or play tourists and go on whatever tour bus covers your city and see the sights through a visitors eyes.

After saying all that, what I most often do with girlfriends is 1. Lunch 2. Shop 3. Dinner. 4. Movie or DVD

I have sort of unsocial hobbies, but if you're into hiking or something with a group, you could try asking a friend along and see how it goes.

Not sure of your location but picnic in Ardgillan castle on a good day is lovely, castle, tea rooms and rose garden behind you, the sea in front - its my favourite thing to do.
Also Hugh lane gallery has free Sunday noon concerts from Sep to June although they do ask for €2 donation.
In my poorer days (although I'm anything but rich now) I had pamper sessions at home with friends. We'd all make our own cosmetics -face masks, scrubs, conditioners etc (plenty of ideas online) and bake some cupcakes and sit down at home with the radio on. Glass of champagne or cocktails optional...
