My jack russell got hit by a car and has head trauma he is reponding to me when he sees me and if i call him.
He is still in the vets but wont move out of the position he is laying in.
He has had xrays done on his head and spine. He can move his leggs but cant stand. It had been 48 hours since he was hit.
Has any one experienced any thing like this ? And was the out come good or did they have to put there dog to sleep ?

I'm so sorry to hear about your little dog, I do understand how upset you must be feeling and how worried you are for him. Hard and all as it is, I feel you must be guided by your vet at the moment, he is the expert and if you know him to be professional and compassionate, then he will be doing everything he can for your dog. I haven't had this particular experience with a pet but I know heartbreak and being worried to distraction over them, but you have done all you can for now and he is in the best place he can be until the vet knows more. Maybe if you post on the Animals and Pet Issues forum under the REC tab above, you will be reaching out to animal lovers like yourself, people who will have been through what you're going through at the moment and who will be able to share their own experiences, good and bad. I truly hope that your little guy makes a full recovery but even if he ends up with some long-term effects, he may very well surprise you by how adaptable he can be and able to take change in his stride. I have a three-legged cat who still climbs trees at top speed and another who spent much of her "kittenhood" walking on her "wrists"! None of the other cats can climb as fast as Tripod and the wrist-walker has straightened up quite a bit and now sashays like a model! In other words, try to keep your chin up as best you can and say a little prayer, it can't hurt. I hope the news turns out to be good. J.
