Is there anyone on Boards heading to New York this November?

Anyone who has previously done this Marathon got any advise they wish to share?

Do's and more so Do Not's would be greatly appreciated

Best of luck Jmcmen, sounds like its going to be windy tomorrow!

Any thoughts on the elite races anyone?

Looking forward to seeing Luke Puskedra's marathon debut. Only 24 years old, 6 foot 4 and a shade over 10 stone!

I think Kipsang and Keitany will win as long as they don't make any moves before 30k

According to accuweather, -1 in a strong northerly wind-chilling breeze at 9am NYC. Brrrrrrrrrr

Ehhmm! Why did they just introduce Kenneisa Bekele as running today? And Kipyego for that matter?

Loads dropping their clothes at the start line or just after it rather than to the side. Madness, someone is going to take a hopper. Also appears to be loads in wave 1 who shouldn't be there!

Interloper leading out. He's going to suffer.

    Men through 5k in 15:27. 4:59 pace

Either the coverage on Eurosport is fantastic so far or I'm just comparing to what there was for Chicago.

Just switched to Eurosport from ESPN\ABC and its worlds better. They had shown less than 10 minutes of the leaders when I switched!

Caroline Wozniacki is also running this I think. She is up on the tracker. 8 min/m pace through 5km.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,305 ✭✭✭viperlogic

Eurosport coverage for Amsterdam was great also if you wanted to follow the men. There probably wasn't even a total of 3 mins of coverage for the women! Good balance on Eurosport for NYC

Its the ESPN 2 pictures. Coverage it good.

Edna has picked up cadence after the water station. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets back on to the lead group.

The 7online.com link has good coverage it must be said. Tim Hutchins commentating and loads of elite coverage.

Think her longest run has been 13.1 in training. Could be interesting

    Loads about him on japanrunningnews.blogspot.com
I think 5 of his first 6 marathons he ended up in the medical tent.

He is a bit mad. He saved his head as he didn't go sub 2:08

They're always talking about him on the marathon talk pods.

Mary Keitany rolls up (or throws off!) her sleeves and looks like she is ready to race.

Enjoying this. Times out the window. A proper race in both men's and women's.

Watching this online for the second time (I watched it last year too). It's brilliant! Really enjoying it!

Far from making the same mistake as 2011. I couldn't see her for most of the first half she was tucked away so well in the pack.

The finish to the women's race is brilliant. Keitani biding her time.

Exciting finish. Great debut by the third place girl!

The pace seems to be slowing considerably. Lelisa and Kipsang haven't moved a step in 3 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,148 ✭✭✭rom

    They fixed it thank god.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,776 ✭✭✭This Fat Girl Runs

Not the two men I'd have picked to be top two!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,610 ✭✭✭yaboya1

    That was funny :pac:

Wozniacki through 17 miles with average pace of 7.47. Be interesting to see if she fades.

Wtf do you think you're doing?
I was going to let you finish close, but not after that!

Enjoyed both of those races, men's was never in doubt, women's was a little more interesting.

Wozniacki gone through 20 miles. Still holding pace fairly well.
I think she was meant to be getting married today.
