Irish students who absolutely destroyed apartment are shamed by the news in San Francisco
WHEN RITU VOHRA first landed in the United States of America, she did so on a work-student visa.
So when she was approached by a group of Irish J1 students at the beginning of the summer, she decided to be nice and give them a “break on their rent” in one of the most expensive markets in the country – San Francisco.
Turns out that was a big mistake.
This week, she went back to check on the apartment with CBS in tow.

Disgraceful behavior. The house has been well and truly destroyed. How can you be okay with doing that?

100% guarantee they're culchies. Whenever there's an over the top group on a J1, they're always culchie lads who have zero respect.

American students would never do so such a thing, they'd just shoot a few people.

Culchies or jackeens, they are a group of effing ****. Other landlords will see that news and not rent to Irish because someone thought it might be fun to vandalise.

Like non-nationals have never damaged a property before in Ireland? I know plenty of landlords who have had their houses destroyed by non-nationals. One Landlord had a group of eastern Europeans, who had a falling out. So one of them went around the house with a bottle of lighter fluid and burnt the house to the ground. The whole house had to be built from the foundations up.

American media still loves to portray stereotypes of certain nationalities. Im sure if they were Italian, the house damage would have been mafia linked. Tens of thousands of Irish go on J1s with no issues at all. There will always be pricks out their in life.

Well that didn't take long.

Irrespective of where they're from it's disgusting, reprehensible behaviour. They should be named and shamed so they can't repeat it now that they're back home and made to pay pack every cent of damage plus the costs of getting it fixed.

Funnily enough, if anyone watched the CBS report, an arrest report is blatantly shown with the name and DOB of one of the lads involved. Apparently not a very common name if Facebook is anything to go by. Should be very easy to find the lad involved.

Yeah, CBS video shows the name of one of the group on an arrest envelope. He is on facebook with a picture of him wheeling a keg.

He has a linkedin profile too confirming his details and a few are posting on the journal that know him from Trinity. Ireland is a small place, these lads are going to get absolutely destroyed and probably won't ever get a visa back in to the states. How idiotic can they be.

Sitting on the steps of the house as shown in the CBS video. Not saying that anyone is this pic is involved, but draw your own conclusion especially considering one of the tagged people is also referenced in the CBS video

It's being going on for years in Australia.

Listened with horror in the late 90s as a group of work colleagues just returned from their year in Sydney boasted of how they had 25 people living in a 2 bed unit and the parties they had. Their leaving hooley included taking the solid wooden doors off, breaking them up and using them to fuel the BBQ.

When I lived in Sydney my OH worked in an Estate Agent/Letting Agency in Newtown and their policy was No Irish unless they had a permanent visa as they were sick of the problems.

Having said that - the couple who rented my place in Cork for the 2 years I was away also caused thousands of euro worth of damage - blew the electrics, garden full of beer bottles, 10 foot glass external French doors had to be completely replaced, furniture left outside in all weather, holes drilled in furniture...

Entitled scummers more like. Just cos Daddy's got money, don't mean you aren't a scumbag.

You only ever find out what people are really like when you rent out a house to them.

Why is everyone blaming the Irish for this? The TV report clearly states that the house was rented out to foreign students.

You'd imagine this will follow them around for a while. Hopefully they will be made pay for the damage and loss of rent.

The lads were doing well for themselves shagging them girlies though. The boys in that picture are a fairly motley crew... the girls, at least by Irish standards, aren't half bad.

    That is completely irrelevant.

It's the landlady that's the real hottie.

A lot of it is superficial in fairness, anybody with basic DIY ability could fix it up rightly.
Probably high spirits rather than anything malicious.

They bust through a wall and broke railings off the bannister... how do you do that merely being in a party mode?

Its also not the point. Why should that poor lady have her home returned to her like that?

If still in college, they should be expelled & their grant money used to make repairs. If out of college, their salaries/dole should be garnered.

It will take some amount of cash and skilled tradesmen to fix that place up. Lots of replacement glass needed, lots of replastering, replace the frame on the frond door, new bannisters on the stairs etc.
    More than simple DIY work.

And besides, why should the landlady be left with that responsibility. The animals should never have left the place in that state.
