I was checking what's out this weekend in the Omniplex in Carlow, but the Omniplex website says that it's not part of the Omniplex group any more, and to check the IMC Cinemas website for more info.

Doesn't look like it's on the IMC website though, so is the cinema closed for rebranding?

Hmmm, seems like a redistribution going on after the breakup of Ward Anderson last year.

Carlow, Clonmel, Kilkenny all gone to IMC, probably others too.

I passed it today to see if A Walk Among the Tombstones was showing next week and it was.

There was no sign of any change in branding as far as I could see.

I love that choose carlow on omniplex and it directs you to imc which does not show carlow

Doesn't seem to have been rebranded yet.

The IMC website is quite bad compared to the OmniPlex one! :(

That IMC website really is terrible.

The Omniplex website was hardly fantastic either but IMC is pretty poor.

Was in there today & staff are none the wiser as to when full rebrand will happen. I was hoping to get the IMC bargain Wednesday rate but no luck!
They still took an Omniplex O2 Priority code though.

Was there today and it's still called OmniPlex, asked a member of staff and they said this is the first they're hearing of it!

It is happening. A friend works there. It'll be changing over within a few weeks.

Not that I get to the Cinema much but what will the difference be between IMC and Omniplex?

Not much really they were the same company but spit.

They now have different distribution deals with movie companies so one group may get certain films the other wouldn't get but that would be rare enough.

Omniplex O2 Priority has now swapped to IMC and they except them which will do me.

Was there on Friday, still called OmniPlex.

Is this rebrand happening any time soon?

Still no online ticket facility though.
Probably want to sort that with Interstellar coming in a few weeks.

Omniplex are opening up the old cinema soon in the Carlow town shoping centre. (Superquinn/Supervalu)

So now Carlow will have 2 cinemas.

Yeah spotted that on the front of the Nationalist, been reported that they will have 5 screens in the new (old) cinema!

They have been gutting it for the last 2 weeks.

If I remember right it only add 3 screens so if they are to have 5 screens I wonder are they going to take over the empty video shop and convert it.

2 mainstream cinemas plus the more niche monthly showings in Visual/GBS. Spoiled for choice but I'd wonder if it's sustainable.

Where Cracker Jacks was? The place that's supposed to be haunted?

    We'll be spoilt alright lol.

Please do explain. You seem to be ridiculing the prospect of a bigger selection of venues.

Not sure if it will be sustainable but while both are here we won't miss out on any big studio releases that are exclusive to either chain.

I've never actually been to see a film in Visual/GBS but it would be nice to see IMC or Omniplex use at least one of there screens to show some indy or world cinema films.

I think may just come down to the cost of popcorn etc etc that will be the deciding factor for most people if they are both showing the same film.

No, no it's great news for Carlow.

Might provide some much needed competition.

Just remembered how there'd always be rumours about that building being haunted, I believe we're talking about the same one anyway!

More specifically the cafe where the avail cell was in the shopping centre. There's a few YouTube videos of various bumps in the night etc

Was in there today will be a fine place when it's sorted. Will have more of a look around next week. Hopefully will bring the prices down with the two of them open.

The old cinema "The Colosseum" was haunted and the new cinema was built in the same spot so you can expect to feel the odd chill in the newly refurbished premises:D

In fact IMC are better in some ways they brought back the carer free ticket and the €5 unemployed ticket.

How does the unemployed ticket work?

Do you show your social welfare card to them or something?
