Purchased a license for Windows 8 pro when it was first introduce.
At present I have Windows 7 home install on my main C drive,I have two x 500GB hard drives on my Dell XPS 702,but I created a separate partition on my second D drive to download Windows 8 via ISO DVD,have also tried to download it via USB Windows download software.
Have gone into the BIOS have tried to booth from both but it keeps opening with my Windows 7 OS.
Anyone have any idea on how to sort this issue out.
Have hounded Google for the solution but with no luck.

I dont think I fully understand your post, but the easiest way to install Windows 8 there would be to boot to Windows 7 and create a bootable USB/CD with Windows 8 on it from your Windows 8 ISO. You can do that by using Rufus, a free bootable USB creator. Then boot to your CD/USB and upgrade from there. Hope that answers your question.

I have done all of the above, including Rufus, what I am saying is that I cannot booth from my Dell BIOS,even after changing the BIOS default to both IOS/DVD,and USB, when I restart my computer,it just restarts to Windows 7 OS.

Ok. On the initial loading screen, is there an option to select boot device? The hot key is usually F11 or F12. If there is no option to do this, check in the BIOS to see if you can enable this. Sometimes its switched off by default.

    Thank for your prompt reply
The above keys you recommend are for =F11 +F12 are for volume control.
" Sometimes its switched off by default" I tend too agree with you,but what ??.

No worries. What i mean is, on the loading screen before the Windows 7 screen appears, there should be an option to boot from another device - hit F11 or F12 there and you should be given a list of boot devices to boot from. If you dont see this option, you may have to go into the BIOS to enable this. It may be turned off by default as a security measure, in fact it often is.

To get to the bios in wins, the standard was to tap repeatedly on the F10 key, while rebooting.

This should throw up the bios menu, with an option to use Safe Mode.

Usually software recently installed is causing the problem.

    You can uninstall in SM

Glad to hear you're sorted. Yep update the drivers for the touchpad, and if you find the Metro interface annoying, install this to restore the Start menu:
