A problem deleting files

I decompressed a squashfs filesystem from a live Linux image, onto a directory in a Windows NTFS volume. Using 'squashfs_tools-4.0-i686-cygwin' running in Windows. Uses about 9+GB. Shedloads of files! Deleting gives rise to many prompts asking for confirmation, due to some sharing issue (am i sure I want to delete as it is shared). And the last 'time remaining' estimate was 40+days.

It is on a Vista system at present, but I could plug it in to a Win7 system as an external drive. Is there a simple way to reset all the shares or get around the confirmation message?

By "deleting" do you mean "Sending to the Recycle Bin"? It will be a lot less resource-intensive if you permanently delete them by using Shift+Delete. Of course, you lose the safety net that is the recycle bin. Not a problem if you're certain of what you're doing

No, I've been shift-deleting, I just want rid of 430,000 files taking up 9+GB. I tried moving them to another drive but its just as slow. The problen is the time and continual confirmation dialogs about sharing. Each different item has a different share name. Was wondering if there's a quick way to un-share everything within.

you could use rm -rf :pac:

go to the folder in command line and DEL *.* /Q /S

Thanks Capt'n. Mostly worked, but left the folder tree behind, then used rd /q /s <path>. Then that left one file way down, called con.h. Had to nuke that from Linux. Pesky files gone now!
