Well tonights match is fairly important

    Connacht

Darragh Leader; Niyi Adeolokun, Robbie Henshaw, Dave McSharry, Danie Poolman; Jack Carty, Kieran Marmion:

Denis Buckley, Dave Heffernan, Nathan White; Mick Kearney, Quinn Roux; John Muldoon (Capt.), Willie Faloon, Eoin McKeon.

Replacements: Sean Henry, Finlay Bealham, Rodney Ah You, Aly Muldowney, George Naoupu, Ian Porter, Craig Ronaldson, Fionn Carr.

    Edinburgh:

Jack Cuthbert; Sam Beard, Phil Burleigh, Andries Strauss, Nick McLennan; Tom Heathcote. Sean Kennedy:

Alasdair Dickinson. Ross Ford (Capt). John Andress; Fraser McKenzie. Ollie Atkins; Tomas Leonardi. Hamish Watson. Cornell Du Preez.

Replacements: James Hilterbrand, Rory Sutherland, W P Nel, Anton Bresler, Mike Coman, Sam Hidalgo-Clyne, Grayson Hart, Joaquin Dominguez.

We'll miss Heenan but it's great to have a bit of depth around the squad Faloon should have a good game. With Edinburgh carrying a few knocks we should look for a win but personally if we come out with a LBP I'd be happy.
Carty deserves a second chance so delighted to see him at 10 again, and wit Marmion and Henshaw back we'll see a nippier attacking back line. Hoping Heff has a good game he was great last week in the loose.

    Connacht in a tight affair.

Actually find myself looking forward to Connacht matches more than Leinster matches this season.

Faloon should be pumped. He was Player of the Year two seasons ago, it must have been a little frustrating to see the hype (well deserved I hasten to add) around Heenan and for him to become a bit of an afterthought in the minds of some.

Scrum penalty for losing the bind against Buckley I think. 3-0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,773 ✭✭✭connemara man

    That's not a good start

Leader misses a touchline penalty. Difficult kick, might have been better to take the lineout

Easy to say now but that pen was very tough one, might have been better off kicking into the corner.

Edinburgh strip the ball in tackle immense

Can't afford to miss those chances and give away easy penalties like this one. 6-0 now :(

Why not carty kicking that penalty. Well within his range. Yes leader can kick from long range but carty must surely be preferred when within his comfort zone. Very puzzled

    That's a terrible decision!

Was same last week, Leader took and missed a fairly handy conversion kick, no idea why Carty wasn't kicking...

Edinburgh look very well drilled, Connacht defence doing well to hang on

Leader misses again, much easier one this time.

Edinburgh look fairly decent. But can't help think they're making ground far too easily. Connacht suffering from not having a reliable placekicker.

OK its carty or line position. Leader is playing fine but he ain't no goal kicker

What the hell ref, play advantage if you're going to give the pen don't just blow it up straight away when one team has a load of momentum

Also Marmion's passing doesn't look very crisp today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,166 ✭✭✭✭Zzippy

    Finally! Couldn't miss that one!

Good carry from McSharry (apologies) in that passage. Well deserved 3 there. Connacht need to build on this now.

Great take by Leader, should give him some confidence.

Ah seriously Henshaw, what was that!? Don't get too loose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,773 ✭✭✭connemara man

Henshaw forcing it for no reason.

Ok this is lunacy. You give carty a chance or you don't. Its mental to use darragh as kicker as his percentages are rubbish. Otherwise darragh is doing great.

Madness from Edinburgh there, but lovely kick from Carty.

Beautiful kick by Carty. Need to get points on board here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,636 ✭✭✭✭Tox56

    That was absolutely shocking

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Great kick from Carty followed by a completely wasteful one. That was terrible. Perfect field position lost.

  • Carty's option was right, execution was awful though unfortunately!

    Poor pass from Marmion.

Another opportunity lost. Connacht need to learn to start converting territory into points badly.

Fairly sure it was Marmion, but could be wrong.

Yeah, very frustrating to be three points behind at this stage considering how the game has gone.
