Good idea for a thread. A lot of people following him here.

Great round today. Heres to another 62 tomorrow!

Anyone know how much he would get from his sponsorship deals?
I'm guessing they're probably heavily performance based.

Fix mentioned his earnings so far this year in the euro thread. It'd be interesting to see if his sponsorship deals would cover some/most of his expenses.
I doubt they would go a long way. He seems to be looking for sponsors on his site.

I'd find it hard to believe a lad at his level would get much more then - clubs - equipment - clothing.

He has a chance of getting a few quid at events in Ireland - but that is it.

    must be figures around ?

Have tried to find some but nothing.
Ya, I doubt it's much at all, but I would definitely think there's more than just clubs, equipment, clothing. Afaik, some amateurs, not necessarily being hyped for big things, are on deals like that so a Pro with a bit of a name and a bit of coverage and marketing potential has to be a level above that.

A pure guess, but I would say there's about €50,000 a year in sponsorship to be had for me. I may need to add a bit of corporate stuff in there to be more confident of saying that.

I would guess that those non prize money earning would just about cover the golfing expenses through the year.

I reckon he'll need about 175k or so for Peter to retain his card with prob only 5 events left as I assume he doesn't qualify for the match play in the london club....It's looking grim but hopefully he can do it.

He barely hung on to his card last year and was very emotional about it - saying he couldn't sleep, worried about his family etc. He must be in bits. He seems like a very nice guy and I would just LOVE him to keep his card.

it was inevitable unfortunately, hope he can find some form and get through tour school

Been rooting for him all season - strikes me as a really nice guy. Just hope he can make it in the tour school.

I think he will still have a full enough season next year. As a commitee member he should get a good number of sponsor invites, he is very popular on tour.

I am pretty sure that as a tour winner in the past 6 years he goes straight through to the final round of Q School and he could easily come out of that with a card with a few good rounds. Up until the latter part of last year he most have been one of the most consitant drivers on tour that could well comeback to him.

I hope you're right. Q school is so tough, and is really a bit of a lottery. Gary Murphy came through it when he lost his card a few years ago, so here's hoping.

He's on twitter looking for a caddy for q school if someone fancies that emotional rolla coaster!

    When does Q school start?

One thing is for sure . Q school not easy.

Was watching it last year . 100s of kids shooting lights out . All early 20 a and proper hunger.

Great score from Peter today in the Malaysian Open, 6 under 66 to leave him 7 under after 2 rounds in joint 4th position (4 behind the leader Westwood who is 11 under)

Great to see. Hope he keeps his head now for the next two days. He seems to be in better form.

T16 for Lawrie today, picks up a decent cheque (€35,000) that more or less brings his earnings this year (€52,000) to what he got last year.

Still a long way to go to earn a card but that's a nice start to achieving it.

Must be such a relief for him to go and shoot a good number like the 66. Hopefully he can push on from here, anyone know where his next start is?

I was wondering when he might get to play again. Does he have a web site?

I doubt of peter know himself as yet when he is playing next.He doesnt have a tour card so he has to rely on sponser invites.so its going to be hard to make enough money to get a card for next year.I think though maybe playing less tournaments might be a good thing for him.He should be fresher in the tournaments he plays in

He has an invite to the Indian Open in 2 weeks time

He has a twitter acc & Facebook page but you won't get much details of upcoming invites on there.

    Website used to be www.peterlawrie.com
    but I think it's down.

Your right, just reread the entry conditions, would need a lot of guys to withdraw.

Good interview coming up - 1st half hour done.

    Newstalk.

Was talking about his short driving distance as part of his downturn.

Caught some of it. Mod editFair play to McGinley and McIlroy using their influence to get him invites to tournaments to try to get back in the game.

That's a mad interview, addicted to Coca Cola. Surprised they didn't expand more on that angle, poor line of questioning in fairness as he must be the first sportsman ever to admit to that. And it clearly had a big impact on his mood when he gave up.

Incidentally, I never drank tea or coffee myself and was always partial to a can of diet coke with dinner. I wonder is this why I've never won a scratch cup....
