Hi guys :) I am starting college in about 2 weeks and I need a new laptop, I am studying computer science and I was wondering if I'm going to need any particular specs for this course? also if anyone could suggest a good laptop? I have a budget of around €450, I know that's probably not a lot but its all i can really afford. Thanks :)

For college I wouldn't splash out. You never know what could happen it. For CS you probably wouldn't need anything high-end. As a minimum spec an Intel i3 processor, 500GB HD and 4GB Memory. With that you should be able to do most things, e.g. word processing etc. If you're gaming a lot or using CAD, or if you willing to splash out then do. What type of processor you choose is most important, and you can always upgrade if you feel you want it faster over time.

You probably can't buy a new laptop that won't be good enough to run anything you'll need in CS, so just get the best you can afford. Look for a good battery though, as you want to be able to go through 4-5 lectures without desperately looking for a socket!
