Have you ever benefited from a glitch in the matrix?

Seems, despite having moved my 086 number to Tesco Mobile five weeks ago, I still have the ability to send free web texts by logging into the O2 website with my old number.

Also, a subscription company I was with for five years, but then unsubscribed from, is still give me free ******* to ***** and as I really like ***** I haven't alerted them to their error. I should I know.

So how's about yourselves? Ever benefited from, or take advantage of, a glitch?

Erm, I'm getting a subscription based service free every month. I'm actually so happy about it :)

Was put on a business package by my broadband provider which had a big upload speed, lower contention etc etc because the normal service I had was gimped due to a problem their end. They left me at my normal monthly charge obviously. Couple of years later, Im still on the more expensive service at the lower charge. Sshhhh.

This reminds me of years ago, 1999 , a friend was telling me how his brother was suddenly getting money lodged into his account , for past 2 months in a row , and how he was chuffed that somehow he was on to a good thing. Like most things that appear to good to be true , the glitch suddenly corrected it self and he found himself on the receiving end of having to return all the money that he had already spent .

Wether it was a red or blue pill , it was very hard to swallow for poor lad .

On the landline account, I tried upgrading my bundle online and noticed that I could "upgrade" to the same package I was already on, and get it for half price for 6 months. Tried at the end of the 6 months and discovered I could do the same thing again. Managed to do it 4 times before they changed all the packages to account for fibre and it wouldn't work anymore. Still, 2 years BB and phone at half price was pretty good.

I paid for one of those USB modems from O2. I plugged it into my laptop and got cellar internet access somehow. I did it for two months over the summer, but even though it wasn't a phone, they gave me a phone number.

I can still log into their website and send free web texts!

It sounds pretty cool, but I only use about 50 of my 500 free webtexts on my main account.

That's how they work, there's a sim card in the USB.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

A factory I used to work in had a staff discount shop that was taken from your wages, after they did an update on employee cards it stopped being taken from my wages even though I was still getting goods from the shop.

Yeah - but they could come up with a better way of doing it without giving me two years (and counting) of free text messages.

They weren't free. You got them because you were a mobile broadband customer.

I accidentally walked out onto a motorway in Spain but instead of getting hit I ended up being transported in an instant to a destination 3km away. Odd feeling but a reminder that this is still the Matrix and not reality.

Was checking my holiday balance at work today and figured they're giving me some extra holidays this year :)

Also received a refund from a mobile provider one time after an overcharging incident, the refund was 100x the amount I was overcharged :):)

A few years ago I was on Grafton Street for lunch, outside HMV and went to the bank machine (It was the only one still doing 10's). Popped in my pin and requested £30 and out popped £70. Checked my account and only 30 gone, someone filled the 10's slot with 50's :D

I was on a sports clothes website years ago having a browse and all of a sudden all the prices dropped to zero.
So I lashed a few bits into the basket as quick as I could and went through checkout.
It added up to zero euros with free postage.

The order sat there for weeks saying "pending" and I thought I'd never hear anything further until about six weeks later I got an "Order shipped" email.

I got about four hundred euro worth of stuff for free.

    Good times.

Got on the bus the other day and the Leap Card reader thing wouldn't work so the driver said I could get on for free.

    FOR FREE MUTHAF*CKERS!!!!!

I then sensibly used the 1.45 I'd saved to buy a pack of crisps and some chewy sweets.

Not me, but a woman I work with is a big GAA fan from Tipp and used to be a club press officer years ago. She got a call last week from a woman who offered her 2 premium seats for the Hurling final this weekend. She's won them in a raffle but had no interest in going and had no-one to take them off her. Didn't want anything for them either.
Down here in the sticks in certain circles that's like a lotto win. :)

Someone hacked my PayPal account, used it to get payments and send them straight to a bank account in the UK. Once I realised I contacted PayPal who stupidly refunded me all the money back, they even made a balls of the refund, it was a Euro amount but they thought it was sterling and converted back to Euro, adding about 20% extra for me. Think it was nearly €900 in total.

Yeah but I still have an O2 account with Priority Moments App access and all.

I could in effect, sell the sim and yet still use the O2 account to send texts from it, even though I would no longer have access to it.

Took out a 5000€ loan in 2005ish. Didn't make the repayments for 4 months as I had lost my job at the time. Got a letter to say the loan had been passed onto debt collection agency. When I rang them they had no record of loan. Went back to bank who also had no record of the loan! Got about 4000€ for free :)

I signed up to busybeedvd.com using a 3v voucher one time, a month trial or something. But they kept sending me dvds for well over a year even though the 3v voucher was empty.

Wouldn't like to give details but I had €30K transferred into an account I wasn't using any more.. Just appeared on the statements, left it sit for 3 years and it wasn't recovered... So I sent a letter to the institution asking for all monies to be forwarded and account closed..
Cheque arrived and never heard anything since, that was maybe 4 years ago now..

60 was probably the amount in collections, you get a limit of what's overdue before they contact you, takes ages for it to be racked up if you're on a low amount a month. seen people go a year without paying a broadband bill before being contacted because their credit limit was pretty high.

Honestly, I couldn't live what the guilt of doing something like this. Yes, it could be from someone with more money than sense but it could also be from a crime or some doddery old dear who thinks it's gone somewhere she intended.

In any case, it wouldn't be mine to keep.

Was going to a christening in kildare a few years back and had been tasked with buying the wine in a Tesco in the north, not being a big wine drinker i bought 20 bottles of Wolf blass Chardonnay at £5 a pop as it decent and was on offer.

On the way down word got out that it was all Chardonnay and i was told to swap some in a Tescos on the way as not all liked it..brought them to the customer service desk and the bottles i had bought for a Fiver scanned at €17.99 a bottle...giving me 360 in credit so I picked up 20 bottles of €10 pinot grigio etc and took the €160 for my troubles.

I beat the system that day and the replacement wine went down a treat.

About 2 years ago over in the Gambling forum somebody spotted a glitch during a Crystal Palace game which had the +2 market overpriced. Bearing in mind the game was 0-0 and Palace were the favourites it was an outrageous price which fluctuated from 10/1 - 40/1 ..

I won about 1,200e but I know of others who won 3k+ ..I couldn't believe my luck!

Bank once put almost 3 grand (I can't remember exact amount) into my account by mistake, I left it aside expecting them to find it but when they hadn't after a couple of months I blew it on a nice suit and a mates stag do. That was about 8 years ago, still no mention.
Thank you Mr. Bank Man, I appreciate it.:D

Reminds me of a few years back when Paddy's and Boyles had priced up the Champion Hurdle winning distance in such a way that you could bet 2 and half lengths or less on one bookies and 2 lengths or more in the other, and no matter what happened, be guaranteed to win. The was three options in each bookie also, so the price was a decent 9/4 or so, if I recall correctly and so it was around a 4/7 sure thing. There was a limit of a €100 on bets though and so I ended up going to twenty different branches of Paddy's and Boyles and placing a bet in each one. The hardest part was making sure I alternating from Paddy's to a Boyles, as didn't want to suddenly see the bet disappear, or get refused at any point and realize that I had the majority of my money on one outcome. Anyway, got them all on and all told, I made around €1250. Not bad for a few hours driving around Dublin like a mad thing.

People do this all the time I believe. It's called Arbitrage betting, or betting the arb.

Years ago when I was with Sky digital I had a little trick I used to do to get free Sky box office movies. I'd connect the phone line from the socket in the wall to the back of the Sky box. I'd click on a movie that I wanted to buy and then immediately whip the cable out of the socket before the information could be sent back to Sky. Whenever the bill came there was never any sky box office listed on it, so I assume I was never charged for it.
