A backward land where a 9 year old can shoot an Uzi and wipeout her dumbass instructer who personally put the weapon on automatic, enough said.

In related articles in the same newspaper Kim Jong-Un does the Ice Bucket challenge and Walmart have taken over the police force of a Florida town.

The story is pretty poor satire, as swatting is a thing that idiots who lost at video game do, and the people they swat could easily be hurt in the process, and I could see someone getting lengthy sentence for putting people lives in danger, wasting the polices time, and not to mention the money wasted in paying for the swat operation, and the destruction. They story could very easily happen, and tbh a harsh sentence would be justified, maybe not 25 years, but I could easily see a pretty harsh sentence being used to make an example of someone.

So again poor satire, as this could easily be a real story.

Was a case in Brazil when a kid chopped up his online mate after a bad game.. can quite believe it.

Was caught putting limbs into black bags.

Lol, I actually fell for the news story. I had this huge argument cooked up about it and all.

The fact it could easily be a real story makes it good satire. Whether you think it's in poor taste is a different matter.

    I fell for it!

I was disgusted by his sentence! Relieved it's fake!

The worrying thing is that many US justice and policing stories seem like satire from a European perspective. Insane over the top gung ho RoboCop policing methodologies and a judicial system that can pass really crazy sentences.

Anything to do with computer crime in the states tends to attract totally disproportionate sentences for example.

Considering "SWATTING" is anywhere from 5 to 70 heavily armed police who believe that there is a killer in the house that has killed the mother, and will shoot at anyone else who comes in the door... It's only time before someone gets shot whilst getting SWATTED.

Not really tho, it just makes it a stupid story. Waterford Whispers publishes proper satire.

I read the comments at the bottom of the article and they all seem to think it's true. What a weird site.

The best satire is convincing. Keep it so close to the possible as to be probable and watch the lemmings jump. David Frost knew that.

Thats not satire. Theres nothing funny or unbelievable about it. This article serves no purpose that I can see.
Swatting happens, death by cop happens, and ridiculously overblown sentences happen. Havent bothered reading the site, dont think I will.

Edit: its just like writing about a fake car accident. Whats the point?

The cost for a swat operations is up to 100k in some states.
Up to 25 specialist officers are sent on scene. There has been lots of swatting pranks over the last 2yrs, someone was due a hefty sentence.

a bit extreme is it not???

are they really going to lock him up for 25 year or was jus to frighten the ****e outta himn and just let him out on appeal

Doubt they'll lock him up. Sentence will be reduced on appeal. It's completely disproportionate to the crime.

    That's some epic trolling tho, I LOL-ed tho :D

EDIT: Just saw that this site is a satirical news site :

Would never work here, ringing Mick up in the barracks to drive down in his Mondeo to your mates house to raid him, doesn't have the same effect.

    Was thinking that too

Interesting how many of the comments agree with the article. Not satire but might make some of these people think.

Isn't the problem here that a guy died because of misinformation.. Not where it came from..

If I make a false emergency call, I'd expect to be in trouble. If the responding Garda car ploughs into a bus queue and kills 3 people I'd expect to be in a lot more trouble - but not 25 to life :(

I have strong reservations about all of these terrorism laws that were all rushed in on the back of 9/11. But what do I know

It was becoming a bit of a craze.

They need to stamp it out and this poor fcuker happens to be the example.

    Ah well.

It's missing a list of 'safe' pranks approved by some authority.

Satire doesn't have to be funny. It's used as a tool of ridicule. Humour is not necessary.

Well in current trends, given the states militarisation of police forces, I suppose he (the lad) was lucky they did not just launch a drone strike against the victim.
