I just wanted to drop by to state the usual:

    I hate international breaks.

We're no threat to them, so they just might. They might even loan him to us ensuring he couldn't do them any damage.

Sign Valdes next week and Cech on loan in January.

As if Chelsea are going to give us Petr Cech. They wouldnt sell us Ryan Bertrand over the summer.

If we signed a solid brick wall, it would still concede goals.

Our defence will, um, find a way.

So Cech at 32 and would probably cost £8/10m or Victor Valdes at 32 on a free ( who can join next week maybe) I know which one the club will be going for.

If Chelsea let Cech go (and I think they would tell him to stay put for this season), he's going abroad. Mourinho's not stupid.

No idea, so here's all of them. Auxerre at the 3 minute mark would be my guess.

Some legendary headers in there - back in the days when we could hit a half decent cross....

Can someone show this video to Lovren please? :)

If there were no international breaks there'd be no world cups or euros; on balance they're just about worth it.

I know. But this long drawn out breaks are bloody annoying. They seem longer than summer breaks

If there were no international breaks Sturridge would have eleventy five goals already and we would have won every game.

I can just about tolerate the international breaks for qualifiers etc but international breaks for friendlies make absolutely no sense to me. They should really be abolished.

They effectively have been, no 'friendly games only' break during the regular season until a midweek game in March 2016 from what I can see.

Everything else is either double qualifier, qualifier+friendly, or offseason.

To be fair, if International managers only got players together when the clubs would allow it, they'd barely get a day's training before a game. The quality would certainly suffer.

So as long as people care about the International game, we'll have to struggle along...

It's the first one in a while that I'm happy to see so some of our injured players get a chance to get fully fit.

Although most likely that will be offset with more casualties!

How bout a solution where they play the qualifiers over the summer break instead rather than spread out across the 2 years

Great idea so footballers never get any break ever! :)

But you could compress the League season, cause their would be fewer breaks within it. Start on Sept 1, end in mid May...

People tend to forget that the reason we have players from Central&South America, Africa and the basket case economies of Eastern Europe in our teams in the first place is because of a strong all year round international calendar.
For many countries without our megaclubs this money generated by the international team is solely what underpins a complete football structure, from coaching elite schoolboys to getting Sunday pitches marked and refs organised for the non-elite majority.
Shoehorn the international calendar into 3 weeks in July if you want (regardless of how unsuitable this would be weatherwise in large swathes of the world), then wonder in a few generations why about 50 countries no longer seem to produce the quantity of player they used to.

That is just begging for dinosuars to be substituted for such a team and someone's head photo-shopped on T-Rex' head.

I nominate Utd and Phil Jones. And its not a dig at Utd really, just felt Phil's head would suit the image.

While we're on a Jurassic Park / Captain Planet vibe... "FUN" FACT, Jeff Goldblum voiced the villain Verminous Skumm in Captain Planet.
