Slow wi-fi connection

My PC has an SSD so boots quick and until last week was connecting after a few seconds like the laptop in Ubuntu, but now takes maybe 30-40 seconds.

Is windows just crap with regards to wifi connectivity and network adapters or could there be another reason. The laptop is beyond a joke at this stage. Any help would be really appreciated.
