Would like to see Fellaini in there but maybe too soon for him. Mata, Rooney and Kagawa as the front 3 would be a great deviation too.

    Omg, it's actually back!!!

An, shock horror, I am excited for a PL game again! :D

Would rather see Kagawa in there instead of Hernandez. Mata and him behind Rooney.

3-0 United. Rooney X2 and Mata.

    3-1

    Rooney* 3 and Bony.

3-1 to United. Herrera with two assists

    3-0 United.

Rooney with two and one for either Mata, Hernandez or Herrera. Young with an assist at least.

Completely off-topic but I never got that saying. What's the alternative? To win by an unclear 3 goals? :pac:

Comfortable enough home win I think, 2-0.

...Not to win by 3 clear goals?

What I mean is a 3 goal win is a 3 goal win. Why the need to describe it as a 'clear' 3 goals?

Swansea aren't the side they were. Comfortable 2-0 for me.

I'm going for 2-1 Swansea. Man Utd still have a lot of problems left over from last season. They're a poor side with many injury problems.

Wouldn't that scoreline be a story tomorrow

    Van Gaal out.;)

An easy 4-0 win, Rooney to score a brace

    It's great being an optimist

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,460 ✭✭✭Larry Wildman

    2-2

My fear is that Van Gaal could be our Phil Scolari.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,128 ✭✭✭✭Oranage2

Swansea are shocking, 2 nil to united. Good defensive display by their new very defensive manager.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,616 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

I know pre season is only pre season, and for what it's worth I think United as they stand will just about scrape 4th.

But after beating LA Galaxy, Roma, Inter, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Valencia, some people really think we're going to rolled over by Swansea?

    United still has problems defensively.
    For today's game... nor worried.

    I'll happily back Utd -1 goal @ 10/11 and a bit extra on Utd -2 @ 5/2.

If only there was something fundamentally different between those games and the Swansea game...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,732 ✭✭✭weisses

Will RvP be on the bench ?

United will win this but watch out for Bony ...

Did I not start my post by pointing out that it was only pre season?

At least Vidal is signing on Friday...

The pretend pessimism isn't working lads. We all know it's at least a 3-0 win here.

    So what was your point?

"I know that pre-season is meaningless but we beat all of these teams during pre-season, ergo we should beat Swansea"?

Let's hope to God that Vidal and no less than three others are signed ASAP.

We could be in big trouble today.

He's contending that we're a poor side with injury problems...like it or lump it, he's right!

I didn't say pre season was pointless.

My point is that even though those teams were not at full strength and everyone used lots of subs etc, if you can beat that lot even at half strength, then Swansea "should" be a comfortable win. Of course nothing can be taken for granted.

You also can't ignore the confidence boost that such a successful pre season will give the team.

    It should be 2-1 United..
Will be a tough battle with Herrera being man of the match

Draw, Rooney peno and Jonjo strike from way out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,586 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

I predict United to be poor but Swansea won't capitalize and their attacking players will be enough to get a burst of goals and the win.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,437 ✭✭✭redbaron_99

Think Swansea will make it hard for us in the first half. United to blitz them in the second half. Rooney and mata both on the score sheet.
Expect to see kagawa and Fellaini on at some point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,812 ✭✭✭thelad95

People saying Swansea will win need to take a long hard look in the mirror. We're f*cked with injuries at the minute but we will come through these opening few games with wins. The fixture list has been kind to us this year.

I predict a scrappy 2-1 with Swansea really putting it up to us. Herrera and a revitalised Fletcher should ensure we aren't played off the pitch like the FA cup game last January.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,292 ✭✭✭Adamocovic

Im expecting a close cagey game, hope I'm wrong but Swansea have shown in the past they can put in good games against the big teams. And United are looking a bit light in defence.

Even as a Liverpool fan I'm kind of excited to see how United are gonna shape up this season. Think they're gonna be seriously rejuvenated under Van Gaal

XI titular del #mufc contra el Swansea: De Gea; Jones, Smalling, Blackett; Lingard, Fletcher, Herrera, Young; Mata; Rooney (c), Hernandez.

Ditto that sentiment. It's going to be so interesting to see how it develops. The fixtures should help United rebuild some confidence and gather momentum.

Not happy with Lingard at RWB. When he played there against Valencia he was turned in side out. Hopefully he plays better today, but... we'll see.
