    Rooney, maybe Mata

Giroud should definitely get at least one against Palace, all depends on whether you think Rooney will score twice.

With Rooney having nearly 43% ownership I would imagine he will be by far the most popular pick as next highest ownership is 30%.

Will probably have to go with him as don't want to get left behind in case he does get off to a flyer!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,174 ✭✭✭Dearg81

Sturridge is a good shout too. I'll probably go with Rooney though as most other people will and just owning Sturridge will be a bonus if he does score well.

Yep. Think it'll be safety first for GW1!

Most likely Rooney (C), with Sturridge (VC). I'll no doubt be back and forth between those 2 until the deadline mind, but Rooney being on penalties and some free kicks in the abscence of Van Persie, that will probably swing it.

I'd imagine the FF Scout poll, which is usually a good one to follow, will show the consensus is towards Rooney.

I think Costa is a strong consideration here. Chelsea have the potential to do alot more damage to Burnley than United do Swansea IMO.

I'll probably end up with Rooney but I never like having my captain play in the early game for some reason.

Players hate the early game too. They've often cited having to stuff pasta etc down them at breakfast time is very tough. Fans also hate it. Far less time to get to the pub for a drink pre-game. :pac:

While I have no statistical evidence to back this up, I often find the early game to be lacking in terms of energy, excitement and most importantly for FPL, goals!

Assuming all goes smoothly tonight in United's last warm up game then it's Rooney. Even I won't be going crazy early on, probably....

Captain thread with poll, I've PMed Futureguy and asked him to merge this with the existing thread.

Not that I think there's too much debate about captain choice ATM ;)

Imagine if he does his hamstring or something tonight. The last minute craziness would get 100 times worse!

Rooney is the obvious choice. I am worried about Sturridge, Giroud and Sanchez though.

Way too early to gamble and with Rooney on penalties it's an easy choice. If I had Studge I would probably captain him though

I'm going to go for costa. I think Chelsea will put more past burnley than utd will past the swans.

    The bookies odds.

    Anytime goal scorer.

    Rooney - 4/5
    Remy 7/4
    Bojan 2/1
    Ade 11/10
    Giroud 4/5
    Sturidge 8/11
    Costa 4/5

Burnley's first match back in the PL, so I could see them putting up a good fight, especially at home. Man Utd put 4 past Swansea early last season and I reckon Swansea have gone backwards...I would definitely go for a Man U player over a Chelsea one.

Costa 11/10 with Paddys. What bookie you using for comparisons?

I agree. Turf Moor isn't an easy place to go and Burnley will have the crowd hugely behind them. Last time they were in the PL they got some impressive home results including a 1-0 win over United.

I could easily be proven wrong but I'd go with Rooney or Sturridge captain ahead of Costa,

Agree on this Im thinking of going sturridge. Will transfer sturridge to costa for gw 2 and make him captain

Tempting as this is I think I'd regret having a transfer committed already, simply for the slight advantage of captaining Sturridge over Rooney, when Costa could well get at least 1 goal too.

Costa and Rooney up front and Coutinho in case Pool do rout Southampton as he seems covert central to their attack so far.

Rooney at over 60% on FFS. Costa next on 11%. Sturridge on just under 7%.

No way I'm not going with Rooney based on those figures.

Dzeko could be one to watch... Don't think I've the balls for it to be honest but I wouldn't be shocked if he knocked one or two in.

    Sturridge

I've decided to go with Costa. Makes more sense rather than tieing up a transfer.

In fairness to Sturridge though, he could be fixture proof. Definitely has the potential.

I went with the big 3 up top and looking at bookies odds sturridge is the most likely to score could be a nice start if it goes well. If rooney runs amok atleast I have him anyway. Im eyeing up our old friend aguero( ill never learn) for gw 3 so by having the big 3 up top its a fairly easy switch if need be.
