    Great game

There is an interesting Wiki article
    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theme_Hospital

Check out the "Other Versions' section for details ...

If you download the demo and use Corsix-TH I think it allows you full access to the game in glorious HD. I can't say for certain though as haven't used Corsix-TH in ages but I'm pretty sure you just needed the Theme Hospital demo which is free.

When the most demand was needed, all staff are on break. So I would usually fire and hire new ones and plop them in place :D

Indeed it doesn't but the mod mentioned by Cravez fixes this, played it flawlessly using the mod on Windows 7 64 bit.

If you have the old physical copy, I think using Corsix-TH allows you to run it via newer Operating Systems as it's effectively running the game from Corsix rather than the game's exe file. I think Corsix just uses the assets from the game to run it from the program so that's why I was saying you can theoretically play Theme Hospital for free using Corsix-TH by using the Theme Hospital demo (which should be free somewhere) as Corsix is just grabbing the game's assets and using them via an external program.

Definitely my favourite Sims game (just edges Sim City 2000). I spent so much time on it, and really well made. Very funny as well. Definitely need to give it a go again, as it's been years since i've played it.

Surprised that there's not been an official tablet/phone release for it yet.

Corsix-TH is fantastic, gives a classic like this a much needed lease of life.

I hope it never makes it to iOS or Android, after the rape of Dungeon Keeper by EA's mobile division, I couldn't stand to see another Bullfrog classic brutalised like that.

Loved Theme Hospital, but the thing that really annoyed about it was that when machinery blew up, you would lose the use of that room for the rest of the level!

I would play it again if CorsixTH fixes that bug and adds all the machinery!

Dammit, I tripped and fell and landed on the buy button. And the login, reset password, add to cart and paypal buttons as well. It was a big fall.

You should head to a hospital and get that checked out. Since it was a digital fall, a digital hospital would be best.

Funnily enough one of my housemates was playing it just last week for blast of nostalgia. I was surprised to see it running on Windows 8 without any major issues!

Was there ever a spiritual successor to it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,344 ✭✭✭Thoie

    Two questions:

    1. How do I also turn off the music?
    2. Is there a way to zoom in and out that I'm missing? It would be handier to do that than side scrolling around the place, but I may be expecting too much :)

    Description
CorsixTH is a reimplementation of the Theme Hospital game engine. This is an unofficial port of CorsixTH to Android.
Oh thank the gods, I thought this was an EA release like DK a few months back.

I'd suggest that it's on shaky legal ground though, Corsix requires the original game files to run on PC, this Android port is potentially using those same licensed assets without permission.

    I'll take the risk :p

Looks exactly the same on the Android only problem is the pharmacy and operating theater get the bulk of people patients whilst the the clinics get hardly any.

Still amazing, just micro managing is so hard on the phone.

I've got the GOG version, and it runs great on Windows 7. Pretty sure it'd be grand on 8 too.

Still one of the best games I've ever played.

Got it up and running on my laptop using CorsixTH. Thanks for the info. :)

Forgotten how funny this game is..."You've just killed your first patient....how do you feel?" :D :pac:

Had some issues with the CorsixTH software so dug out old Laptop, reimaged and it's now running exactly like it used too :D

Remember when pc games were in big cardboard boxes, I got a compilation box with

    -Destruction Derby 2
-Sub Culture (underwater arcade flight-sim type, great graphics on my first voodoo card)
    -Civ II
    -Crusader: No Remorse
    -Red Baron
    -Pro Pinball

and Theme Hospital all in one box for a tenner in Smyths in Galway back in the day, bargain of the century, I thought Theme Hospital was the dud in the box because Id never played a management game before but my whole family ended up playing it for years non-stop, even my father who never touched the pc would be in my room playing it when I came in from school, one of my all time favourite games.

Has anyone ever playe all the levels (ie hospitals?) or does the game continue to randomly assign other hospitals as the game is played?

Each level is distinct. You progress along this board as you play. I always seem to get bored around the same point any time I replay it

Thanks I know that you move 'progress along the board - just I have never actually got to the end so to speak. Is there a final level? Just wondering has any one got there and ?

I actually did a massive replay recently and got through all the levels. The earlier ones were a bit dull to replay, but once you get into mad epidemics and so on it's worth it :D

So as the board seems to indicate is the big reward at the end fast cars, ladies of the night and columbiam marching powder etc? :D

Update: Lost 8 hours of my day yesterday on this now, btw I suck at this game, I get to around level 7 and balls it up... had to google tips since it was my 1st time playing since I had internet..... there are soooo many things i did not know and sooooo many things i was doing wrong

    What were you doing wrong?

A couple of mistakes since I started this:
Poor layout in a scanner with no waiting area meant a backlog/bottleneck developed - and people were dying in the queue and were not happy about it.
I hadn't spotted the backlog until my satisfaction levels were dropping. make the room big and have a waiting area.

Not using the training room to train up enough surgeons (or juniors, etc) no point having an operating theatre with only one surgeon and the other one is working somewhere else. Also have your ward next to the theatre.

    Have a big toilet.

I'd always start off with 2 GP's office because they are always a bottleneck

Yes that was my tactic too. I rooted the game out a while ago as I played it constantly for years as a kid but could never finish it so I admit I looked up cheats online....I can die a happy woman knowing that I finally got to play all the levels!
