    Weird.
He does seem prone to a shocker when he is in contention, wonder doors he suffer from stress, though it wouldn't appear so from his public persona.

Hope he comes back, seems like a good guy.

That sounds strange - I like the guy. Hope he's OK.

I always thought he looked a bit slumped over on the shoulders when playing but always just assumed that was just the way he is. Maybe it's nothing it's just he always looks like a man with a lot on his mind.

Hopefully nothing too serious going on as he is a fantastic athlete

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,511 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

No details on it really other than his statement citing "personal issues" and a PGA statement wishing him the best.

    Hope it's nothing too serious.

Supposedly not golf related, unfortunately. So much temptation out there for young men with millions of dollars and no shortage of people keen to help them spend it. Get well soon, DJ!

Sounds like that's him gone for the Ryder cup.

Something tell's me Sky know what it is, some wild speculation over on twitter

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 998 ✭✭✭John Divney

Does he live in Miami ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,077 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Sky speculating disciplinary issues with PGA tour. We'll just have to wait and see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,695 ✭✭✭ForeRight

Sky appear to know what's going on and it seems there may be something more sinister behind this?

    Injured his nose?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,035 ✭✭✭IITYWYBMAD

Was talking to a ET caddie today about this. He will definitely not be on the Ryder Cup team for the USA according to him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 752 ✭✭✭ShivasIrons

I'm surprised he's used 'personal issues' as the reason for the break, normally it's an 'injury'.

Apparently he had an 'injury" before.

Well the tour should be treating everyone the same and making any violations public, if that is the case.

No judgement in this day and age, look at the train wrecks like Tom Watson who got over their issues and are loved.

Just Tom got his personal issues from a taxable product.

Lots of reading between the lines :)
    Pun intended

Story seems to be gathering speed - I'd say we'll know more tomorrow. Not good having all this speculation.

What's all this about Tom Watson, what was his train wreck?

    Drinking problem

Wasn't there rumours about Watson having an "affair"

He was married donkey's years to someone he grew up with then she filed for divorce out of the blue due to his "profession" then about a year later Watson was married to a woman who was just split from someone else on the tour.

I think Watsons kids cut him off too which is all very strange if it was just a straight forward marriage breakdown to which we are suppose to believe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,511 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

Poor auld Vijay really did get screwed for using that suede protector spray.

Send Paul Kimmage over there. He could start with looking at a few of Lance's magic men and it wouldn't take long to go from yellow jersey to green jacket.

I'd say the lads could do what they wanted before the Internet - twitter - sky and Mail Online.

    And Boards :P

Sure you can't even hit the ball 300 yards these days - the scandal of it.

That's what was so shocking about the extent and the sheer depraved nature of Woods' indiscretions when the ugly truth came out... how had he managed to keep such a lid on it for so long??

It would appear he is rehab bound "I will use this time to seek professional help for personal challenges I have faced."

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,526 ✭✭✭Slicemeister

What we thought was a slow amble he was actually break dancing in his own mind.
Pity, wonder will that be the end of him and the three white lines.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,029 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Shame as he has so much potential. Hopefully he doesn't go the same way as Anthony Kim i.e. his career tailing off to nothing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,185 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

In fairness loads of money, Your one , and coke.

"Where did it all go wrong".

    I blame the i ♥ TM . Adds.

The only way you could get a pro to do that......

He will come back . Do interview . Cry be a hero.

So the two month "injury break" back in the start of 2012 after which Dustin's caddy was sacked seems interesting combined with an angry Fijian who's out for blood and won't be bought off by the PGA Tour......

I'd forgotten about him too - pretty well disappeared now. I'd say it's hard enough for these guys to keep on the straight and narrow.

With Golf being an Olympic Sport these days the drug testing method has changed, not governed by the PGA any more, not as easy for Mr Finchman and the boys to be forgiving anymore.
Sad to see though. Like to see him get clean and win some....Paddy Power has a bit of my money on the back of DJ.

First thing that sprang to mind was PED's.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 998 ✭✭✭John Divney

The Anthony Kim comparisons are interesting because if this was a policy by the tour to mandate 'help' for players with 'issues' or they don't get back on tour, there are rumours Kim followed the Amy Winehouse song, no no no.

If it is because he was told to do it then it may be a pointless endeavour.

The player was in good form, has been out for 'injury' before, so what will change.

Having personal experience with people who were given ultimatums, they only accept this to make the hassle go away, and don't get better because they are not ready and the denial is just ridiculous.

He never recovered from when Ian Poulter shoulder charged him out of the way at the Ryder Cup

Good.I'm broke from backing him every week.Gets near the top of the leaderboard and then implodes.I think even though he gives a very relaxed impression,he cant handle the pressure.Maybe a break from golf to reassess himself will do him good.
Still I think he cracks under pressure.I will always remember(and never forgive him)when he was in with a chance of winning the British Open a few years ago and blew(shanked) a simple second shot out of bounds and ruined his winning chance.
