So what famous Irish people (if any) did you fancy growing up?For me it was Leslie Dowdal of In Tua Nua(Marry me Leslie!Sigh!)

One of mine too! A couple of years ago she joined in an impromptu session in my local in Enniscorthy - especially memorable as I don't think that there were more than half a dozen of us there at the time.

Flo MacSweeney (Moving Hearts) was another from the same era.

    I fancied Shaun O Dowd from Ding-A-Ling.

    I was a severely short sighted teenager.:o
    Now?
    I'm wondering what a Ding-A-Ling was.

Unless I was dreaming, I think someone told me recently that he is still performing somewhere.

As my sight improved and I got older, I fancied Seán O Conner from The Lookalikes.

Who was that male newsreader on RTE who was considered something of a sex symbol in the mid 80s?There used to be speculation that him and Anne Doyle might be an item and there was a sketch on Davis At Large where they were at the newsdesk singing a version of Islands In The Stream with the lyrics changed.

    ^^^^^
Richard Crowley was the only hot newsreader in the 80s.
I think I'd have remembered another one.
Paul Clark left RTÉ to go to UTV and is still there.

    Can't think of anyone else.

Forever linked with this live phone-in to the Gerry Ryan show - sorry. :D

Gerry Ryan: (during a discussion on whether people would like to be
buried or cremated when they die) - "Would you like to be buried or
    cremated?"
    Caller: "Oh, buried Gerry."
Gerry Ryan: "And where would you like to be buried?"
Caller: "Up to me balls in Bibi Baskin!"

Liam Ó Maonlai from Hot House Flowers

Dick Moran from Glenroe (Emmet Bergin) He was spotted close to where we were on holidays so my mother and aunt insisted we track him down on the far end of a beach, he was sunbathing in the nude, never saw my mother move so far in the other direction!!

I wrote to Richard Crowley i my teens and he wrote back and sent me a photo . (Cringe)

    Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman)
    Marion Richardson (Bosco)
Carol McDermott (Glenroe-dunno her real name)
    Ciana Campbell
Cynthia Ní Mhurchú agus Clíodhna Ní Bhuachalla

I spotted her about a year ago and she hasn't changed much!

    I second Richard Crowley!

And there was the lead singer of the Nervous Animals - they sang on Self Aid, I saw it years later and wondered what I ever found so attractive about him!

Also, my first real love when I was a wee lad was for the lovely blonde locks of Tina. Beaten out by some crowd from Sweden in the Eurovision. I was devastated.

Believe it or not, Shaun is actually Chris O'Dowd's dad.

I used to find something sinister about him, probably the beard.(Was looking for a Bosco era pic of him with said beard but there aren't any but heres one of him with a tash.He still looks a bit sinister.)

Invalid answer. She was played by English actress Vicki Michelle. Also famous as Yvette in 'Allo 'Allo. But yes, a sex symbol.

Can't find a decent pic of her from back then but she was hottttttttttt!!

Can anyone confirm if this is Ann Marie Hourihane who appears here at .22 sitting on the right?Looks very like her but this is from 1979 so I thought she would have been too young. This is The Virgin Prunes on The Late Late.
