A few comments in the Breakfast Republic thread got me thinking.

What're your presets in the car (or at home if you don't drive)?

Just idle curiosity more than anything else. :P

I don't drive, but in my Dad's car it goes:
    1. Today FM
    2. 2FM
    3. Spin SW
    4. Radio Kerry
    5. C103
    6. Red FM

I'm really interested to see is he the only one who doesn't have R1 on preset 1. :P

On my own radio it goes:
    1. RTE R1
    2. 2FM
    3. Today FM
    4. Spin SW
    5. Red FM
    6. Newstalk
    7. R na G
    8. C103
9-20. Live 95, Clare FM, Kerry Radio, i-Radio when the wind is blowing right, and duplicates.

    In the car (FM1) it's
    1. RTE1
    2. 2FM
    3. Today FM
    4. iRadio
    5. Newstalk

On "FM2" is the others: RnaG, Ocean FM, Highland, Lyric

The main 5 presets on my Roberts internet radio is

    1. TXFM
    2. 2FM (herself likes 2fm and FM reception can be poor in the kitchen)
    3. Nova
    4. Zenith
    5. BBC R2

Those 5 are subject to change, though that's what's there atm.

    RTE1
2FM (why, I have no idea, as I never ever listen to it)
    Q102
    4FM
    Nova
    Lyric

I get around a lot of cars and always, always reset the radio to this order. Despite manually tuning in Newstalk fairly often. I really am a creature of habit!

And I too am fascinated to see if anyone (bar the OP's father) has anything other than RTE1 on no. 1!

Can I just say I love the fact it seems like ye're justifying having 2fm on the presets. :pac:

Not justifying as such - just when I was typing the list it occurred to me that I'm about 20 years too old for the station, so why on earth do I have it tuned in at all  But yet I do......

Tomorrow I think I'll tune in Newstalk in its place - but that's giving me the jitters just thinking about it!

    1) 2fm (in light of recent changes could be changed)
    2) Today FM (lin light usage since Foley left, D'Arcy becoming increasinsingly annoying and getting bored of Matt Cooper)
    3) 98FM (Added after Foley moved. Started listening to Dermot & Dave because of this. Then the moved...)
    4) TXFM (Kept even after change from phantom, like some of the new changes
    5) Newstalk (Mainly for Moncrieff, since the Off The Ball Change)

I have all the stations that can be picked up in Dublin in frequency order (Volvo radio has 20 + presets). For the last while I normally only listen to Nova and Newstalk though. Occasionally I'll flick through them till I find a song I like.

In the van in work I tuned in Nova and Newstalk. 4 fm was already set so I flick between those.

2fm preset is handy in the afternoon and after 8pm

It never gets use between 4:30pm and 7 though for obvious reasons

I have my favourite list in this order on my radio (don't drive):
    1. RTÉ 1
    2. 2FM
    3. Clare FM
    4. Today FM
    5. Spin SW
    6. 4FM
    7. i-Radio
    8. Newstalk.

In reality though I don't listen to RTE 1, Spin SW, Newstalk or i-Radio unless something good is on. Mainly stick to Clare FM and 4FM, and sometimes 2FM on a good day. I have a huge OCD problem hence why they are all sorted into frequencies numerically, but also because it makes sense to me (1 is RTE 1, 2 is 2FM etc) :D

    1) 98FM
    2) TXFM
    3) 2FM
    4) Spin 103.8
    5) FM104
    6) iRadio

More often than not its the CD player I listen to, as radio advertising does my head in!!
I removed TodayFM a few months ago, found I was getting irrationally angry if I even heard D'Arcy sigh for a brief second... induced road rage!

    1. RTE Radio 1
    2.. RTE 2fm
    3. 98FM
    4. FM104
    5. Spin 1038
    6. Newstalk
    7. Today FM
    8. Q102
    9. Nova
    10. 4FM

.. plus a load more but I'll leave it at 10 :) My stereo is pretty cool in that it scans and displays all local stations depending on where you are.

Not actually in any order as such and Newstalk or Nova/4FM seem to be what's on most - assuming I'm not just listening to MP3s

    13. 2fm
    14. RTE Radio 1
    15. FM104
    15. Spin

RTE will be gaining a number of places, seeing as I have taken to their weekday and a couple of weekend music shows. Q102 will be losing places, seeing as I rarely listen to it now. Nova will remain top. Sunshine will move up as well, seeing as I listen to that a bit. Anything from 10 below are stations I very rarely listen to. Though, I haven't listened from 6-8 in a long time. I should include Dublin City FM too, as I listen to Live Drive morning and evening, whenever I get the chance to. A friend of mine is one of the presenters of Good Morning Dublin as well, so I try to listen when she's on.

    1. RTE Radio 1 (the odd time)

    2. 2fm (rarely)

    3. Radio Kerry (Weekend Sport, Deidre Walsh, Agri time, death notices:pac:)

    4. Newstalk (Sean Moncriff, Pat Kenny, Ivan Yates)

    5. Today FM (Ian Dempsey, Ray Darcy)

    6. 4FM (80's, 90's music whenever its om)

    1. Radio 1 (only for sport)

    2. RTE 2FM (if I'm flicking and there's a good tune on)

    3. Today FM (most of the time)

    4. Clare FM (if there's something specific I want to hear)

    5. Limerick's Live 95 (same as 4)

    6. Spin SW (usually my next choice after Today FM, please don't hate me for it)

    7. Newstalk (hardly ever)

    8. 4FM (sometimes)

    9. Lyric FM (I never have it on but I share the car with my mother and she enjoys it)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,176 ✭✭✭1huge1

1: 4FM (only for the odd bit of oldies music, the talk shows are very trashy in my opinion)

2: 2FM (the odd bit of good music)

3: Limericks live95fm (nice to get a bit of local news and some good music)

4: Todayfm (some good talk shows, decent music on average)

5: Redfm (anything to get spin south west off my radio preset)

6: Newstalk (by far my favourite radio station, almost constantly on, love breakfast with chris o donoghue and ivan yates, lunchtime with jonathan healy and the right hook)

For music I just usually listen to google music (€10 a month, similar to spotify) through an aux cable from my phone.
