Really like the look of 2.05 Goodwood Madeed 7/1 with PP doing Money Back for 2nd or 3rd. Will do a write up later but price won't last.

6.05 Gal - Notorious Villain (Quiet a performance considering such a layoff against very useful type last time) 20/1

4.55 Gal - Darwins Fox (I think the trip will be spot on, considering how hard they will go and expect him to finish well) 8/1 …a bit skimpy at 8’s was expecting to get some of the 14’s but it’s gone

3.40 Gal - Dalkova (Trainer in unbelievable form, will know job and 12/1 is a good price)

3.00 Gal - Hasanour (Tenderly ridden in most of his races, looks to me like he has not really been put given a fighting chance in his races, hill will suit and i expect a decent run and price to shorten considerably ) 14/1

3.10 Good - Brown Panther (Talented horse, jockey could have been mistaken for a 10lb claimer the last day, hope he has learned a lesson) 3/1

    2 for me tomorrow.

13 50 Vaxalco. Unlucky in a couple of decent hurdle races last season. Remember Culloty taking about him after one of his hurdle races saying he was a real chaser in the making. Big scopy horse and getting weight from some of the principals. Only 5 and chasing was always going to be his game. 14/1 with PP worth taking a chance ew. 1 pt ew 14/1

    16 55 Rawnaq 12/1.

Should have taken the 16s available earlier but still think that this is a fair price. Good third in the greatwood of 138, off 140 tomorrow and looks to me as his mark has been protected since that run. Will love the ground/trip/hill. Think this is an outstanding ew bet. 2 pts ew 12/1.

Also going to follow rossom on his advice on 2 05.

Like the look of Brown Panther in the Goodwood Cup. Probably didn't get home at Royal Ascot. Won it last year so undulating track is not an issue.

Really sweet on this myself notwithstanding competitive nature of race like this. The Greatwood is usually a decent race, Rawnaq was arguably somewhat unlucky in it after suffering interference in the straight, but was still only beaten a couple of lengths giving 3lb to Del Arca, who subsequently was second in Befair Hurdle and ran well at both Cheltenham & Aintree festivals been beaten only a few lengths each time. As said above, Rawnaq has not run over hurdles since then, but has has two recent flat runs which should put him spot-on. 12/1 not the best value at this stage but this is a serious horse IMHO and has to go close.

Would be very keen to take on Missunited. The unexposed Sea the Stars filly is quite well backed but this is very tough for a second start. Nymphaea looks a good bet at 10/1. She is a consistent mare and this trip shouldn't harbor any fears, by Dylan Thomas from a really good German classic family with all of the best appearing to be fillies. She already has a group 1 to her name she should be competitive here. 28lbs ahead of Gosden's runner who is half her pride

Surely Talent is the one to be on? She gets into this without the Group One penalty for winning the Oaks. She ran a cracker in the St Leger, and considering she handled Epsom so well, Goodwood should be in her favour. 4/1 is a very fair price.

She was beaten over ten lengths at Epsom and that was a poor race last time. Not sure she has trained on, something about her I don't like

It's a poor enough Group 3 though. If she can't win this tomorrow, then she should head straight for the paddocks.

Not keen on Brown Panther at all, wouldn’t be surprised if there are two in front of him, Estimate and Cavalryman

Is anyone at all keen on Missunited at Goodwood? Only thing that's holding me back from having a decent sized bet is the lack of rain.

What price would she be if she hasn't ran so well last time? Just because both are staying races there is 3/4s of a mile in the difference. She just beat Shu Lewis over this trip two starts back what price would she be in the race. I'd say by no means he is a banker but I could be wrong but I'd be happy to look elsewhere

Best bet of the festival I have seen so far has to be Grandma Dotty in the second last at Galway. 25/1 looks a stonking price for a horse that has already won over the distance, is open to improvement and is at a basement weight in a fairly poor contest. Had actually booked marked this one over its last appearance over hurdles when it fell while travelling like an absolute dream and might just have won the race at a very big 33/1. Today it goes back in trip on the flat, my only real concern is whether it will like good ground or not. Competitive enough performances at Dundalk would seem to suggest at very least that it won't hate it. Horse is quite lightly ridden and inexperienced, so I'd hope from the draw that it can be tucked inside for most of the race before being switched out wide where a good turn of foot could see it go close.

    2.05 Goodwood

    Madeed 8/1

Course winner Madeed finished 2nd behind American Hope on the wrong side at Royal Ascot in the Britannia on his latest start and off the same mark of 89 and the step up to 10f sure to suit I think Brian Meehan's charge looks to have a belting chance today. Having ran a very promising race when runner up to the then twice raced and talented Richard Hannon inmate Expert in a 7f Newmarket Maiden last July, Madeed shed his Maiden tag at the second time of asking with a comfortable neck victory over 1m here at Goodwood a month later when beating the talented pair Pack Leader (rated 90) and Hymenaios (rated 87) on what was his final start of his juvenile campaign. On the back of an 8 month absence, Madeed made his seasonal reappearance in a strong Listed race over 9f at Newmarket where he shaped a lot better than his finishing position suggested. A bit keen in the early stages, Madeed hit the front about 3f out before steadily fading late on and it certainly was a nice enough reintroduction to racing. Given a further two months off the track and with a tongue tie applied for the first time, Madeed made his handicap debut in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot where he ran an absolute blinder to finish 7th overall and 2nd in the unfavoured far side group here he shaped as if a step up in trip would suit. Looking at exclusively the far side group, the first home American Hope is a horse that I like a lot and who was very unlucky not to win last weekend at Ascot when agonisingly reeled in late on having been forced to hit the front too soon. Additionally, the 4th home that side Table Rock went on to win a handicap off the same mark and a Listed contest subsequently and I've no doubt the form of his blinding run on just his 4th career start is excellent form. Racing off an unchanged mark of 89, I think the step up to 10f will suit today and I'm happy to see Kieren Fallon booked as he seemed to get on very well with him on his two juvenile starts. Proven at the course, off a mark of 89 which I definitely think he's handicapped to win off and with Brian Meehan in decent form, I'm confident of a big showing from this unexposed 3 year old and Paddy Power's special of money back if 2nd or 3rd is a particularly appetising offer. Of the others, I think Amanda Perrett's well bred Astronereus is on a good mark judged on what he has achieved on course and I've backed him with Madeed in forecasts.

I couldn't have her at the price. She got an easy lead in the Gold Cup. It won't be so straightforward over an easy-ish 2 miles at Goodwood today. If she tries to make all, I can see a few that will reel her in.

Think Madeed is definitely handicapped to win. Was very keen in the early stages and over 10f I think he just ran out of gas late on.

If it wasn't for bad luck this week I would have no luck.

Some job by Russell to stay on board. Think this 1 could make a decent staying chaser.

Got a late text from my uncle who is at Goodwood that they had been given word to get on Lyn Valley each way as it was expected to have a good run, finish strongly (it sure did!)

You can see by the time I got the bet on that I didnt have time to post it up but if I get any further word from the uncle I'll try get it up here

    4.55 Galway

    Fergall 33/1

Seamus Mullins' English raider Fergall is a horse I've always been a fan of and having got what I feel are his ideal conditions I quite strongly fancy this progressive 7 year old to run a huge race. Having shown promise in 2 bumpers and having finished runner up twice over hurdles in his first 7 starts, Fergall really kicked on from his earlier form to win 3 of his next 5 starts over timber. Having made all to comfortably beat Vibrato Valtat over 2m3f at Newton Abott in May last year, Fergall made a successful handicap debut off a mark of 124 at Huntingdon in December last year on the back of a 7 month absence giving 19lb to the 3 year Keltus who has since run two blinders in the Fred Winter and the big Juvenile handicap hurdle at Sandown off 5lb & 8lb higher marks respectively. You can put a line through Fergall's next run at Sandown when he hated the soft ground and he ran an absolute blinder on his next start upped to a Grade 2 contest at Kelso. Over 2m2f and again on ground softer than ideal, Fergall attempted to make all but was brushed aside by the very talented Clever Cookie and there is no shame in that defeat. Fergall was given a hike by the handicapper to a mark of 136 for that 2nd and he showed himself more than capable off that mark as he comfortably landed the Sussex Champion Hurdle back in April. Racing wide throughout and a bit keenly, Fergall travelled well throughout and took up the running well before 2 out. Victory was never in doubt from the moment Wayne Kavanagh sent Fergall on and he only had to be kept up to his work to score comfortably by about 5L. That form hasn't really been tested thus far but given that it was a valuable prize worth £20k to the winner you've got to expect it was a good performance and it's clear this 7 year old is very much on the upgrade. The handicapper has hit Fergall with a 7lb rise for that victory and although he will need to significantly up his game today I see no reason why he can't. It's a very rare trip back across the Irish Sea for Seamus Mullins and I definitely feel he brings over a horse that has a very live chance. I expect that Fergall will be prominent throughout the contest (may even lead) and despite being the 3rd highest race in the field he only has to carry 11-0 and I'm actually quite sweet on his chances and think he's going to run a huge race.
