Verifying Concert Tickets bought privately?

I want you buy a concert ticket online, the guy selling it has a hard copy. Is there a way I can verify the ticket? Maybe via the bar code?

My concern would be that the ticket could have been canceled with another reissued, resulting in me denied entrance at the door.

The only way of being sure is to buy your tickets from the authorised sellers/ticketmaster! remember that for most concerts there are tickets released for sale shortly before the gigs to combat touts.

As for checking the validity of tickets, the only way would be through the authorised seller/ticketmaster but doing that may result in the tickets being cancelled because you are not the person named on the tickets.

I bought print out tickets online for a gig, I was wary of the person and thought they were trying to scam me at first. The tickets never arrived in time for the gig and I got a full refund.

I am 99% sure the person was not a scammer. It was really weird, I asked them to email me the pdf to print and they wouldn't.

I had a code off the ticket, I rang ticketmaster and asked if they could tell me anything, they said they couldn't. I kept pressing the guy asking if he could at least tell me if htere had been other enquires about this number (in case it was being sold several times and others rang). He eventually told me that there were no previous enquires or anything unusual looking, but he was making out that he shouldn't really be telling me this.

Even if its verified as ok now he could still say he never got it on the very day of the concert and have yours cancelled.
