Normal Coke or Diet Coke?

I love a nice can of diet Coke on a hot day - nothing can beat it! That said, I absolutely cannot drink the "full fat", normal version of Coke. Nothing to do with the health stuff (I'm sure Diet Coke is ****e for you too), but I find it syrupy and hate the way my teeth feel after drinking it.

What say you AH, what's your poison?

Hate normal Coke. It tastes like sugar and makes my teeth feel dry and rough if that makes sense? Quite like Diet Coke.

I don't really drink either very often, if I do have Coke it'd be normal Coke since I don't drink much of it. I had a Dr Pepper's last week, don't know why, it must be the heat. It has a weird tang, but is strangely tasty.

Coke... Can't stand the taste of diet.

Also, yes these sugary drinks are synonymous with fat f*cks. But they're nice in moderation. That is, one a week....not one a day.

Although Dr Pepper is where it's at.

I like both but there is no option for that. :(

Pepsi is where it's at. I think it's smoother than coke, and less acidic. Diet coke is disgusting.

    The Craic surely?

Did you know Coke zero is the diet version of regular coke and diet coke is the diet version of the failed 'new' coke! The more you know

I'm not mad about either of them, but definitely prefer Diet, I used to be a divil for it. Agree that the regular stuff just leaves your teeth feeling horrible. The odd time I do have a fizzy drink, and it's been probably a few weeks since I had one, I'd go for Club Orange or Rock Shandy instead.

Normal coke is far better, anything with aspartame in it tastes terrible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,225 ✭✭✭DellyBelly

What i do is buy 2 cans 1 full coke and one diet and mix them. It's really nice and half the fat. Nice

Coke > Pepsi > Pepsi Max > Coke Zero > Diet Coke

This is the definitive ranking and anyone who disagrees is wrong. (Diet Pepsi not included because about 1 in every 100 shops actually sells it).

Red Bull Cola for me, except you can't get it anymore so Pepsi Max. Coke is rotten.

Aspartame is not a good thing to be ingesting.

Just had a coke thanks to this thread. :pac: Is it possible to be addicted to coke? I think I was for a while but I only have it as a treat now.

Tastes best out of a can. Diet coke tastes like watered down coke imo.

Had a serious Coke habit. About 3L a day. Doctor diagnosed me with metabolic syndrome and Blood Sugar levels that would lead to diabetes if I didn't stop. Always hated Diet Coke but gave Coke Zero a try. First day I realised it was tolerable and much closer to the real thing than Diet Coke. Second day I tried a glass of real coke again and already it tasted rank. Sickly sweet syrupy gloop. ie. It only took one day for my tastebuds to acclimatise to Coke Zero and for it to taste like real coke used to taste to me and for real coke to taste like something that I couldn't believe I actually used to love and be addicted to. Zero calories from coke zero meant I slashed 1200 calories worth of sugar from my daily diet with absolutely ZERO effort. Another benefit was that metabolic syndrome caused by the massive quantities of sugar causes a lot more diuretic effects (drink and p1ss a lot more) than the caffeine in the coke/zero alone. With the metabolic syndrome gone after the switch, the major diuretic effects abated and my consumption of Zero dropped to 1.5L compared to 3L of real coke. Thus my daily caffeine consumption was slashed in half too.

For me Coke Zero did for my Coke addiction what E-Cigs did for my nicotine addiction.

    Aspartame

    coke zero :)

Although i've tried a few of those colas made with real sugar and they're awesome. Too pricey though

I have a can of Coke every blue moon, when my sugar feels low and I really need an energy boost. So never Diet Coke. Which tastes like p*ss IMO.

I like Diet Club & recently gave Club Zero a go - it's pretty odd in flavour tbh.

Don't drink it often because it's hard to get - coke in the small glass bottle with the beer lid, ice cold - taste is so much better than tinned and there isn't as much volume.

Can't abide diet drinks the aftertaste is awful.

    Vanilla Coke FTW.

Where do you manage to get them? Never seen them outside of the pubs.

I don't think there is any fat in Coke, it's sugar or sugar free :)

I drink diet coke to counterbalance the calories in the food I'm eating :)

France - stocked up the last time I was over. Don't know why you can't get them in the supermarket here.
