pc gamer picked up on it too

    http://www.pcgamer.com/mass-effect-andromedas-facial-animations-are-still-being-polished/

From what they've said it's being worked on.

I'd agree with that only at the end of the video, it says that it's representative of the gameplay. So yeah, i'm still baffled as to why in the name of god they included that horrifically undercooked incomplete scene with the Turian.

Unless part of the story is that Fem Ryder has severe muscular atrophy from her 600 year flight to Andromeda, that she's incapable of moving facial muscles whilst executing complex hand to hand defensive moves.

Why would bioware include something that's not anywhere near finished in a glossy trailer like that?

Desperation from the fans to see anything?
The ravening hordes are at the gate and they need something to hold them off for another while.

They made a bollocks of it - if they'd edited that part out it would have at least looked semi professional.

This trailer has better facial animations than the andromeda one has, and it's nearly a decade old.

I don't think they're anywhere near finished this game at all. Releasing a gameplay trailer at this point was just stupid.

unofficially the release date is 31st March - some keyselling sites and game magazines have picked up on it, but like i say, unofficial.

    Also more gameplay footage tonight

hope there is a European server.

I often dislike when the Americans get the headstart.

Being an Origin title, I have found a quick visit to Korea on the interwebs generally triggers an open invitation to play the game earlier than intended. Must be some sort of exclusivity deal between the Korean government and EA. Fair play. If only Enda would get us something similar.

I'd guess a lot of people will be doing that, stupid this day and age to have a staggered release date with digital distribution.

The promotional material for this has been fairly weak. You can make bad games look good with some creative marketing, so it should be pretty easy to make a good game look good. This worries me.

Built in fanbase, no need to even try to sell this thing, it'll sell itself.

    That's exactly the concern...

I wouldn't be overly concerned tbh, it'll probably be a solid release.

You mean it will be an off the shelf game that only sells because of it's name. Let's be honest here ME3 was not exactly showing any innovation or great leaps in game mechanics and was for all intent and purposes a shovelware project but at least it was the ending on a trilogy so had that going for it. Now we get a new shovelware game except it lacks any emotional pay off to keep it going? This is bargain bin game buy if ever for me personally short of rave user reviews coming out.

I wouldn't call it bargain bin at this stage but the trailer made it look pretty dull and very generic. Deffo a wait for reviews first title.

If I hadn't discovered Warframe, I'd probably still be going back to ME3-MP - probably still will. It's just too damn good - and I have to say that whoever called ME1-2-3 bad-looking games... Well, no comment.

To be clear, they had good art direction but awful graphics.

The style brought things to life but they always looked unsophisticated.

    Awful is a massive overstatement.

Ten years ago, when it was released initially, it was pretty great looking.

there is a mod out that overhauls the entire game to the ME3 graphics.

That's your opinion but I don't agree with you, I thought ten years ago it looked a bit dated, but worse was how poorly it performed on consoles of the time.

Mass Effects graphics always impressed, even ME 1 which I only ever played on the 360. The Citadel, the Tropical Planets, some of the Mako missions where you were in those giant buildings and a million other things like that. ME1 hasn't aged well, I was actually a bit shocked watching someone play it last year but at the time of release it was fairly jawdropping, no way they could be called poor.

Actually was just having a look there

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_Effect_(video_game)

6.1 accolades - around 3/4 the way down

It was nominated for Best Graphics, Best Artistic Design x2 and a host of others . The fact that it was even nominated suggests that the calibre of the game's graphics at the time were above average for those merits.

It has an impressive amount of accolades to it's name.
And yeah, it does look rough by today's standards, played it myself there a few months ago and found it tough going after the citadel, and the lifts.. jaysis :D

There's an texture mod for ME1, spruces things up a bit. Sure, there's only so much makeup you can put on a horse, but it's better than a kick in the nuts.

Side note, ME 2 is currently free on origin.

I remember thinking ME was pretty good looking. Might not have had amazing textures, but some of the art design was pretty cool.

Andromeda is a day 1 for me i have to say. I probably won't pre-order it, but i trust Bioware enough to make a good game. I enjoyed Inquisition, so that in space and in the ME universe is fine by me.

Same studio name but it's actually a different studio and without the Doctors helming a mass effect game for the first time.

nitpicking i know, but bioware aren't what they used to be, maybe andromeda will change that, maybe it wont, can but live in hope
