    Hi all

Myself and my partner are considering becoming foster parents and we were just looking for some insight from those already doing it or who have been fostered....

We were also wondering if there is a constant demand or would you typically go a while without a child joining you? We're always hearing there is a demand...

We have three children ourselves, aged between two and seven and feel we could offer a good home if needed. Any insights on foster brothers and sisters would also be welcome.

    Thanks all in advance!

Hi, my neighbour is hoping to do fostering next year. From what she has told me, your youngest child has to be six years old, and then you will only get a child that is at least 6 years younger than your youngest. For example, 6 - to baby, 7- to 1 yr old etc. You have to register with a fostering agency or the HSE. They're are obviously very strict guidelines. Check with the HSE and if possible speak to someone that is already doing it. Another neighbour of ours has been doing it for years and loves it although it can be very difficult at times.

Having fostered for the past 3 years, I would recommend a fostering agency.
