Vaginismus

    Hi Ladies

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but anyway....

Firstly, I am wondering if any of you ladies suffer from the above condition and were successful in treating it?

Secondly I have not yet been diagnosed (and I am not seeking medical advice), but I am pretty sure I suffer from the above as I am unable to have intercourse due to the extreme pain. I am looking for any advise as to who would be the best person to go to for a diagnosis, GP? Well woman clinic? private clinic? I am nervous to go and have been avoiding this for years (I am 25).

I guess I have a defeatist attitude and have already resigned myself to a life of celibacy. Any positive advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks:)

Go and get it checked out - get a referral from your GP to a specialist.

I couldn't have sex at all for over 6 months, and was having some sort of pain for around 18 months. Turned out to be a combination of conditions, which all required different treatment:
    - Cream for inflammation
    - Pelvic physiotherapy for super tight pelvic floor muscles from me falling on my tailbone
    - Anti-candida diet for thrush

Since the cause is different for everyone, so is treatment and prognosis... A lot of the causes of dyspareunia or vaginismus are easily treatable - so go and see someone before deciding your fate.

GP is the starting point. There are all sorts of different conditions which can cause this, loads of which can be treated.
