Protesting about a concert and about Gaza/Israel

    1) It's a concert, get over it and hopefully we will learn the next time! MAYBE!

    2) Let Gaza and Israel at it, a few hippies protesting won't change anything.

All the corruption in Ireland, Sick kids having there medical cards removed, double taxes on wages, water taxes, tv licence for what? ridiculous car tax! Massive health and emergency services cut backs.

Have we protested about all the above, god no!! Surley Mr Brooks and 2 countries thousands of miles away are more important.

We really are a country of backward thick hillbillys.

When will people learn that they can only care about one thing at a time?

It's just greedy to care about all those different things. People should know their limits.

People do protest about those things. Although they often tend to be the same kind of people who protest against Israeli atrocities, and they generally get dismissed by idiots as 'hippies', 'crusties', etc...

Of course it is, but it.happens to be In a completely different country were this has being going on since the dawn of time.

I think we have our own issues, you didn't see the Israelis or any other nations protesting about gang violence when that poor kid was shot in Dublin

That's because it happened in a completely different country to theirs so their protest wouldn't even vaguely matter to anyone involved.

    Makes you think, huh?

I wasn't.. and I don't know what a 'biker protest' even entails, but presumably you were there because you felt strongly enough about it to attend. Much like the people attending the protests today... so what's the problem?

We really are a country of backward thick hillbillys.

If you insulted any other nationality of people you'd probably get a slap on the wrist from the moderators. Somehow this doesn't apply when it's about the Irish.

I attribute your attitude to a number of factors but primarily post-colonial Stockholm syndrome and the lasting effects of Section 31 censorship.

If our government had a habit of indiscriminately murdering innocent civilians on a regular basis, I'd like to think that people from other countries would show some solidarity.

People all over the world protested when Bobby Sands died, so the claim that people in other countries wouldn't care about things happening here is fallacious.

I now wish to know what the Bikers did to get protested at? I'm guessing it involved noise/1% activities/jumping queues of traffic. And who protested against them??

And yey did they tear at their clothes and whip themselves yet again for the umpteenth time.

Can we have a 'we Irish Oh we're not worthy' forum please.

More self whipping goes on in here than in all of Amsterdam.

Protesting about a concert and about Gaza/Israel

The Garth Brooks stuff is ridiculously overblown. But I guess if you're from the country, and you spent a good bit of money to go see Brooks in Croke Park only the find out he's cancelled the gigs, it gets people angry. Some people complain that we are pushovers as a nation, but people actually went to the effort to highlight their unhappiness about Garth Brooks by protesting.

Israel/Gaza, same old thing really. But their tends to be a lot of interest in the whole thing over here in Ireland. At least in the sense that people are actually interested in the issue.
    1) It's a concert, get over it and hopefully we will learn the next time! MAYBE!

A shame about the whole fiasco really. Think what those Garth Brooks concerts could have done for the Local Economy. But I suppose I would be pretty annoyed if it was something to do with Metallica, Or Iron Maiden.
    2) Let Gaza and Israel at it, a few hippies protesting won't change anything.

Funny that it took a few hippies protesting to end the Vietnam War(Well it started off with a few hippies and got bigger). I wonder if people just let Northern Ireland at it, would we have had a peace process now?
All the corruption in Ireland, Sick kids having there medical cards removed, double taxes on wages, water taxes, tv licence for what? ridiculous car tax! Massive health and emergency services cut backs.

An old saying, "It's going to get worse before it gets better". Tough times bring tough decisions. I don't agree, nor do I like cuts being made, or taxes being introduced. But it happens, and it's not just our country that has it either.
We really are a country of backward thick hillbillys.

A bit harsh. I've gotten pretty sick of the whole Irish resenting Irish nonsense at this point. Yes we have flaws, but we're not thick hillbillys. Just a little misguided at times, and can be greedy too.

I thought this was a parody thread of all the self-hating Irish threads being made. Nope, just another guy whinging online and probably doing nothing to fix any of the issues they are complaining about.

What I find really bizarre is the typical sight at one of these demos of a LGBT left-wing commie save the whales socialist party activist with pink hair and waving a rainbow gay pride flag marching against Israel along with some Muslim nutjob with a beard and silly cloak waving a black jihadi flag who hates and wants to behead and kill all Jews, uncovered women, gays, adulterers, apostates and infidels. Talk about turkeys voting for Christmas!

I once saw ( on tv ) President Higgins ( before he was president ) and a bishop at one of those protests, the one a LGBT left-wing commiesocialist with pink hair ( i.e. such of it as he had, ) waving a rainbow flag, the other a nutjob with a beard ( OMG! a beard! ) waving a black flag, both of them shouting to behead Jews, gays, adulterers, apostates and infidels. When they're finished there will be nobody left here. Why don't they take part in something vital to the life of the nation, such as a bikers' protest?

im not a hippie nor a crusty, feel sorry for all the folks screwed over by the Gaa/aiken/dcc or whoever the buck lands with,400000 people is hovering around 10% of our population,so it is newsworthy, albeit a bit of a pain in the hole at this stage.Palestine however is a whole different kettle of fish.People are dying.Innocent people. While the superpowers of the world look on,and even financially and militarily support Israel, which is not even a real country. So this is really newsworthy, and certainly doesn't warrant another 'us Irish are idiots thread' that seem to be popping up on ah almost every other day lately
