He was in great form and had recently won the tour of California. It was widely expected that he would be in the tour team.

He wouldn't want all his team mates to fail - but perhaps just the one.

Does he have much experience as a domestique?

Is it normal to bring a reserve team leader who isn't a noted domestique and doesn't like the team leader and isn't liked by the team leader?

He finished 32nd in Tour of Flanders and 9th in Paris Roubaix, before beating a second class field in California.

Carlton Kirby is very dramatic. He couldn't hack commenting on a XC MTB race at all.

With Froome gone, it would be nice for Nibili to have a few minutes on Contador ahead of the mountains

    Chris Froome
First Group with 18km to go: Nibali, Fuglsang, Westra (Astana), Sagan (Cannondale), Boom, Vanmarcke (Belkin), Kwiatkowski, Renshaw, Trentin (OPQS), Gallopin (Lotto), Cancellara (Trek), Lemoine (Cofidis), Clarke, Hayman and Keukeleire (Orica).

Have to think that with Froome out Contador won't mind shipping a minute to Nibali, unless Porte has his best form, all Contador has to do to win the tour is stay upright, you'd think!

Edit: Latest time check 1:53! 3 minutes would make it real interesting!

Shocking that Saxo and Movistar can't pull any time back and are losing so much time.

How much time does Nibali need to put it up to Contador? I reckon 3 minutes plus would certainly make a contest of it!

I have a feeling they were watching each other and didn't follow the astanas when they upped the pace.
