Sometime in the last couple of days this has jumped over €60 http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/1226027/Trail/searchtext%3EXBOX+ONE.htm

I've emailed argos to ask about it.

So does that mean we have to wait for the weekend then download or is there some way of downloading beforehand (without paying of course)? Could take half the weekend for my 4 meg connection to download it :S

Far as I know it's available to download now(you might have to search in the store on the console)

It's from Thursday to Sunday and you can download it now, the only catch seems to be that it is only if you download it from the console directly. From SmartGlass and Xbox.com it is still showing full price.

You can start playing from about 14-20% installed. I've done that (although by the sixth race I had caught up with the download and had to wait a few mins, or rerun some of the previous races).

I've emailed argos to ask about it.

Argos responded to my email this morning, just saying that the price is correct and sometimes prices go up.

I went over to my local shopping center today and after spending time looking around I decided it was still probably the best offer so I went ahead. Despite their website and their stock checker instore saying it was €491.99 when it came time to pay it still only cost €429.99 so that was a nice result.

Better off waiting for free Destiny for €400 in GameStop, Titanfall can be picked up for €40, Destiny is at least €65 in Dublin atm.

Of course, Destiny isn't out until Tuesday, so that offer won't be available until then.

I was thinking it might have been a digital voucher for download
    (wishful thinking)

Nope, physical copy as it isn't an official Microsoft bundle. At least you can trade it in if you don't like/want it, should get ~€45 trade for the first 2 weeks or so.

Newbie to this sort of thing. My weuns are at the age now where their pals are getting xbox for their birthday gifts and asking Santa for them, some are getting 360 2nd hand from the local electronics trading store for about 160, while the wealthier clans are getting them new XBOX one kits. My lad is 6 and wouldn't know his ar** from his elbow when it comes to these things. So I need some hints and tips. Should I just get him a 2nd hand 360 from the eklectronics store, or should I ask Harvey Normans for a HP deal (can't afford a new XBOX one). Minecraft is the game he wants to play, and to be honest, I've not much of an idea what it about, but I was very sceptical about letting him get one so young, but all his pals are… What to do…LOL

    Any advice greatly appreciated

Still plenty of life in the 360 at the moment and I think given your sons age would be a better idea.

There was a good offer earlier in the thread for a new 360 with 2 16s rated games, Halo 4 and Tomb Raider, for around €170 from Amazon France. The games may not be age appropriate, but the price is very good for a new console.

Both consoles have very good parental controls to restrict games by age rating and can limit the amount of time that can be spent on the console as well.

I'd second a 360 too, assuming most of his friends will be using the 360 too. Avoid HP, no point in paying over the odds/interest etc for someone only starting out :)

Yeah I'd also say get him a 360. if you're going to get a second hand one then I'd get it from a CeX store as they offer a 12 month guarantee with all their products. You can have a look at the different ones here and in your local store if there happens to be one near you: https://ie.webuy.com/search/index.php?sortOn=sellprice_desc&stext=xbox+360&section=

Just bit the bullet and ordered XboxONE Destiny bundle from GAME (game.co.uk) including a copy of Halo Master Chief Collection (shipped separately when released) for €439.97. Thought that was pretty good.

(Plus whatever the ParcelMotel charge is these days)

    Looking forward to it! :D

Thinking I might go with the Destiny bundle on amazon with the expansion pack, £349.85/€437.42,dunno what the delivery cost is though.

Works out cheaper in GameStop. €399 for an Xbox One with Destiny and €35 for the expansion pass on launch day, €39 normal. Plus you need to adjust for Irish tax on Amazon which brings it to £359/€448.

I can't wait until 31st Oct to get my xbox one I already have a ps4 which I love. But being a bit of a gamer I was always going to get an xbox one eventually. I had planed on leaving it until next year but when I saw that stunning sunset overdrive white console I thought "s**t now I have to find the money for this".
