Hi there, I completed and passed the general abilities aptitude test with AIB on 30th June 2014. Was wondering how long does it take to be called for interview or does some people not get called even after passing? Im looking to be posted in a Kilkenny branch, does that make a difference? Any info would be greatly appreicated tanx.

Hi polly02 Just wondering when you actually applied to AIB and how long did it take for them to get in contact with you to arrange aptitude test?

Hi there, I applied online around 26th June, got call that evening for apitude test on 30th June, got told I passed on 1st July but nothing since, was just wondering how long it takes to get word of the interview or not? Have you applied?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 kiko12

Ya I applied on the 11th of June for Limerick region but the status on the aib careers page is still listed as "New Application". Did you apply through an agency or just through the AIB website?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 polly02

I applied on the AIB careers website and my status at the moment is Psychometric which is the name of the aptitude test. Did you not hear anything about the test? I had to travel to Ballsbridge for mine. What position did you apply for? that might make a difference.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 kiko12

No nothing about the test, I applied through the careers website too, I haven't heard anything at all! My status is just listed as new application. I don't even know if there is anyone you can get in contact with to query it. I applied for the Branch Banking Role but only listed Limerick as my region, maybe it is going by region you selected?!

I applied for branch banking roles in Kilkenny region, yeah maybe it goes by the region. On the day of my test i got chatting to a girl from Waterford, most of the others were from Dublin, there was 10 of us in total doing the test. Can you apply again online or just the once, im not sure? They are still advertising on their careers page for AIB Branch Banking Opportunities - Regional, North Cork, Limerick, Dublin, North East, thats dated 19th June.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 kiko12

Ya that's why I don't understand why the status is unchanged its like the application was never reviewed?! And especially because they have advertised for Limerick again. I might se of there is someone I can get in contact with. How was the aptitude test?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 polly02

Yeah that is strange alright. Maybe send them an email just to enquiry about your status, it would do no harm and would show you are interested, email is careers at aib.ie. The test was tricky and I was pushed for time, I didnt get them all finished but that didnt seem to matter as I passed, i couldnt believe that. You should google morrisby they have a very similar but much easier test its a good example.

Ya I just emailed them there so hopefully I will hear something back! Thanks for your help, best of luck with the rest of the process and hopefully the interview goes well for you! :)

Yeah hope we both hear something back soon, best of luck too :)

Hi Polly02 I have been contacted by AIB since I last spoke with you and I sat and passed the aptitude test. Just wondering if they got back you you yet regarding the interviews? :)

Hi Kiko12, Oh thats great im delighted for you, yeah they contacted me last thursday asking me to attend interview on Monday just gone. So im just waiting to hear now, this is the hard part the waiting game!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 kiko12

Oh That's great, how did the interview go? was it hard?

My problem now is I'm off on holidays for 2 weeks so hoping that I wont miss out on an interview while im away!

The interview was grand, i had the branch manger she was a lovely lady & another man he was also lovely. It was competency based and very structured, they asked about 3 questions each. They made me feel very relaxed, i was very nervous going in. There was no trick questions, just questions like give us an example of a time when u worked well in a team, when you gave excellent customer service, when u solved a problem in work, those type of questions. I advice you to have those type of questions prepared so you not stumbling over words when they ask. They also asked me to tell them a bit about AIB. It lasted about 45 mins and ill hear in about 2 weeks time. Its so hard to say how I got on, u never know what they are looking for or if there is someone else more suitable for the role, ill just keep my fingers crossed & hope for the best.
Did they give you any idea when they would be doing the interviews? thats worrying if they call u while on your hols. I had my test on 30th June & interview on 14th July, thats 2 weeks so u never know. As long as you can answer your phone while your away ur not too bad.

Ya its the interview I'm worried about now because with going away its so hard to prepare and especially not knowing when you will get the call! She did say that there was a role open in a branch not to far from where I live which would be great but then she said I might miss the interviews with being away! Ya I will have my phone on me and will be checking emails also.

Just really need to get prepping now! Have never done an interview so extremely nervous!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 polly02

Yeah thats tricky alrite, just prepare as much as you can. They are all very friendly and professional so dont worry they will put u at ease. Mine was just like a very structured chat and they didnt make me feel like i was being drilled. They write a good bit of what you say down but thats just so they will remember you.

Don't want to sound intrusive. But do you mind giving me a ballpark salary? I'd really appreciate it, even if you'd like to pm it to me. Thanks good luck with the job.

    Hi there,
The salary ranges from 24k to 30k depending on your work experience. I got the higher end because I have a good few years of customer service, I guess thats the reason anyway. Did you get an offer?

Hi, was your customer service experience from working in banks or was it something like retail? Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 polly02

I have customer service experience in the financial and hospitality sectors. But I know someone who has no customer service experience and still got a job offer, so I guess its not necessary but maybe it does help.

Anyone get called for an interview without having a business degree? I have a degree in Law myself, would that disinterest AIB completely from me, given that the job spec requires a degree in business?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 997 ✭✭✭MrJones1973

Dont take the job. AIB will milk you. Its been ruined by managerial-ism. You will be pushing product day in day out. No service culture. How do I know? Lots of mates in AIB-cant wait to get out.

I have a business degree but also know someone who applied a few years ago, she had a law degree and got called for the aptitude test.

    Hi Guys,
I just applied today for a Branch Banking role. How long will it be before my application status changes or I hear anything back?

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could send me the phone number for AIB HR. I deleted it by mistake.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,

I don't have it. Just ring the Bankcentre and ask to speak to someone in HR Direct.
