    Tdf14_stage3_profile.png

Flat as pancake and quite short, this is a nailed on bunch sprint.

With Cav out of the race, Marcel Kittel already has one hand on this stage. Greipel will be his closest competition, with Sagan, Kristoff, Demare and possibly one of Cav's former train also worth a mention.

    Oddschecker: Kittel 8/13, Greipel 4/1, Sagan 13/1, Demare 14/1, Coquard 22/1

Probably on the outside of one of the last turns!

anywhere along the embankment would be pretty good too.
Is it a bank holiday in England today? Surprised that they have put this stage on a Monday, or that they are going right through the city with it.

Somewhere near a pub. Few drinks bit of food the beautiful tones of Sean Kelly on the tv and about an hour before the race arrives head out to enjoy the show.

Probably won't be a terribly interesting day today, basically a rest day in disguise.

Any one want to give guesstimates on how many times Cav not been in the stage today will be mentioned by either eurosport or ITV especially at the finish after the sprint?

They are coming in from the east along the Embankment (and I would echo what retalivity said - think there will be better views there than nearer the end because of the size of the crowds - it's not a bank holiday but they are avoiding the real city centre whilst taking in some of the touristy sections approaching from the east). Putney Bridge is a bit further west so it should not be an issue

May have delayed spectators coming in from the West/South West as bridge was closed to north bound traffic following the incident, but that would be about it.

Another day if big crowds fair play for a 'school' day!

These French TV crews love their churches.

Although in fairness, there's feckall else in Chelmsford worth filming.

First read that as "crunchies" and had to check it's not Friday:pac:

They took a 40km detour yesterday to show Helmsley Castle in North Yorks - a place I know pretty well as I used to go to school in the town

Interesting way to follow progress along the route: link
You can zoom in/out - that's the overhead plane for TV signals I think. Sorry if posted previously!

Talk about tempting faith when he said he immediately got insurance when given it

Seemingly was brought down by Richie Porte yesterday

I would go to the Savoy Hotel on the Embankment and go to one of the upper bars over looking the thames or that new building not far from Blackfriars wiht a panoramic bar

Both probably charge alot for cocktails but have very good views

He really does my head in....talk about Le Tour for Dummies

I am convinced he is just a tape recording that is on a loop

Pity Nico changed his bike, that was the easiest way of picking him out from the crowd. Means we're going to have a few more rounds of the "Where's Nico?" game :D

Is anyone finding Kirby a bit more unbearable than usual? I actually quite like him usually, but hearing him moan and groan about anything remotely modern in England is doing my nut in, mate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭Mint Sauce

Has Big Ben been the only building/climb, so far not given a translation yet by the TDF Director. :D

kelly stayed well out of that rant on london buildings.

    London looking well.

    Pedantic correction for the commentator.

The clock tower that holds Big Ben isn't called St Stephen's Tower anymore.

It was renamed after the Queen two years ago to mark her 60th Jubilee.

One for the quizzes that. My head is full of useless stuff. :o

Sickening listening to commentators on utv saying some others have a chance to win the Sprint now cav is out.Last I checked Kittel was beating him at will the last 12 months or more.

    I like The Shard myself.

Went up it recently. The view and sunset from it was stunning.

I doubt he gives a toss about the postcard shots.

It's all about the race for him. :)

    Spectator (muppet) hit.

Why do people find it acceptable to walk out in fron of pro cyclists in the biggest race of the year, when they normally wouldn't cross an empty road without looking out for cyclists.

sky guy looked like he gave the spectator a good belt of his elbow

It was the spectators fault, what exactly could the sky rider have done? He had nowhere to go.

Agree with Kirby there about that Mittel sculpture tower thing.

    I'ts hideous.

From the overhead it looks like he was using a camera at the time. Surely people realise that the view you get through a camera lens isn't really where the cyclists are.

Looking at the crowds ...nearly everyone is filming or taking pictures from the side of the road....modern pain that no one can experience anything in the moment (except Fabian :D) anymore ...no one can be present

Its just about capturing events on film and posting them on social media ...mental

I don't know where you live but it surely is not Dublin, a small percentage don't even look out for cars/vans/buses, nevermind cyclists, wearing headphones to cover up any benefit hearing may have in noticing a vehicle about to hit you.

Taking a photo. The TV footage showed it perfectly.

Looked like on the ITV replay he was sticking out a camera. Got cliped by the Sky Rider.

About 20 regular commuters a day.

    Between Galway and London.

It is noticable how pedestrians in London are more cautious in relation to cyclists than those at home in Ireland.

I was in Leeds on Saturday and made a conscious decision to leave the camera in my pocket for the duration. I tried to take a few pics at the Giro this year and all I got was a crap view and crap photos. I showed about three people the photos and haven't looked at them since. Much more enjoyable to just watch it properly.
