I'm sitting here masturbating like a mentally defective orang-utan. Oh frabjous day, calloo-callay!! :D

Rumour has it it will have the new TFT binnacle like the TT, and is a firm push upmarket, so who knows, might not be too shabby. The days of the Trendline on steelies may be numbered.

    :o I am quote excited.

Quite a big deal in my line of business.

To be honest, if it's anything like the vast improvement of the current MQB platform Golf/Octavia/Leon/A3 over the older models it's going to be an extremely good car. The CC is the one I'd potentially have an interest in at some point.

All messing aside, the Passat CC is a sexy-looking car.

You can bet any press release photos will look nothing like what we'll see on our roads with a 151- Plate.

New CC is at least 12 to 18 months away and will include a Shooting Brake version too.

The front looks quite "VW Agressive", kindof like the front of the old Phaeton

    Not a hope.

Looks like fairly pronounced front arches too.

It seems like the current one is only out 5 minutes, compared to the B6 which seemed to drag on before being replaced.

Even though they will both have had 6 years

I see the current one as a b6 facelift meaning its been out since 2005 with a heavy mid life facelift.

I predict rear tail lights with the same arrangement as the a4/superb

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 123 ✭✭Spark Plug

I understood that the car was going to be unveiled ahead of the Paris motor show in October has this changed?

So long as it doesn't have the Superbs LED headlights that look like someone stopped off in Maplin that's ok. Current passat has them too.

Just saw this on VW Ireland's Facebook. I like it to be honest.

The back of that AE artists impression looks like a pug 607

Lots of pics on worldcarfans.com. Not a big fan of the fussy front end styling, cabin looks nice but a lot of Golf in the there. Underwhelmed but did not expect to be bowled over.

    How very VW of them:)

Looks like that car has R-Line kit and upgrade (19's?) wheels.

Xenon or LED lights and glass roof, but it wouldn't take too much to make a basic one look like that.

I see you can get analogue clocks or the new TFT screen, wonder how many TFTs we will see here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,865 ✭✭✭✭MuppetCheck

Probably not many, the father has one in his car and it's not up to much tbh. I'd personally prefer dials.

    The wagon looks tasty.

Rear of the saloon looks like the current model, personally I think that's it's best angle anyway.

Smashing looking motor, any idea what the RRP will be?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,930 ✭✭✭✭challengemaster

    Looked better under the sheet

I think it looks a lot like the mk5 Mondeo tbh, once you get past the front end (which isn't unsimilar), especially the wing mirrors

5% increase is suggested. Car is also smaller than the current car, although a tad wider.

    Worlds longest air vent?

    Worlds longest air vent?...

Could be. I like that dash though, it's funky in an understated way. I also notice it's getting to the stage where I can't tell whether a yoke is automatic or not by looking at the shift-lever! :pac:

According to WhatCar there will be no petrols for sale in the UK
"VW says that less than 1% of Passats sold in the UK have petrol engines, so there will be no purely petrol-powered version offered"
There will only be a plugin hybrid with a petrol engine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,226 ✭✭✭Stallingrad

That would be disappointing if true, they have some fine petrol engines and diesel does not suit everyone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 102 ✭✭BdaraB

It's understandable if they only had a 1% take rate, no one is buying a petrol Passat if you look on Autotrader there is one new/nearly new Passat for sale

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,226 ✭✭✭Stallingrad

I see you can't buy petrol in the current shape either. And I thought petrol was making a comeback, glad I got my 1.4Tsi before they pulled them.

Well not it that size of car anyway, although a huge 3 petrol CC's are up. If you move down a class there is still a few petrols, just going by the cars on Autotrader around 1/3 of Golf's that are up are petrol,

Interior is nice, exterior is painfully bland.

Again imo too similar to whats gone before, front is like a kia optima, why don't vw designers come up with something different for a change.

Very similar to the current model

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,520 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

To be fair, they got 9 years out of the b6. Its about evolution rather than branching in random directions as some companies do.
That design wont age straight away and should stand the test of time. Contemporary becomes pathe very quickly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,519 ✭✭✭Oafley Jones

Like the estate but otherwise Meh. The back of the saloon is as bad as the current golf. They've said that they want to be the Apple of car design and you can sort of see where they're going with it but it doesn't work for me at all. There's a fine line between minimalism and bland and VW are on the wrong side of it. Would love them to have a clear out of their design team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,226 ✭✭✭Stallingrad

You can see they are aiming for BMW, the flanks, swage line with integrated for handles, hoffmeister kink, even fuel cap (no longer round) all scream 3 series.

I think it moves things forward not one bit, if you asked a non-car person which of these designs had just been released I doubt they would know.

I don't think anyone here will have the model shown as they will be 1.6 tdi on steelies.

the swage line as you call it is so similar to the 3 series

I dunno, maybe its just me but to me something like the newer model Accord is a car that will stand the test of time, whereas that new Passat looks dated already. Then again I have never seen the appeal of VW and have always found them to be bland cars, so each to their own I guess!

Audi A8,Merc (every class), Kia, .... they are all at it. I think the look crap on any car esp when you consider the are just a cut out in the bumper with a metal frame and the real exhaust is sitting behind them (which is usually a weedy little pipe)
