    The Fugue wins easily.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,224 ✭✭✭jimjamcos

Hard to see The Fugue beaten given she gets her ground. She apparently wasn't right when bombing in it last year (and i'd believe Gosden's word more than most trainers)

Verrazano and Trading Leather definitely interesting though.

Rain due on Friday evening/Saturday morning. Wouldn't be that confident on The Fugue if it isn't Good to Firm

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,702 ✭✭✭tryfix

A cracking field lined up for this, the race is usually won by highest rated horse in the field and the Fugue has lengths in hand of the rest.

Not that sure she's capable of running two top races so close together but she's very fairly priced.

Most of the rest of the field aren't good enough, the three year olds look a real threat. Night Of Thunder is bred to get a trip, if he wasn't a Hannon horse I'd be convinced he's the danger but he is a Hannon horse and a bit short in the betting.

Kingston Hill would have a huge chance if running. He's one to jump on at his current price if he looks like running.

Verrazano has been progressing very well and looks like he'd be suited to the stiff finish at Sandown. This may be his day because O'Brien has really hit form now. The problem for him is that the race is very hot.

There's no value to be had yet in the race unless you're a The Fugue fan.

They have being watering the course according to a report on atr website, with a sprinkle of rain due (5 mil). That shouldn't pose a problem you would think.

I can't have The Fugue. She ran a stinker in this last year, and I can't ever back a horse who's run badly at a track previously.

War Command for me if the ground stays dry. Said the last time he would love the step up in trip and he gets it here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,818 ✭✭✭Bateman

I like the idea of giving War Command one last chance, but have no doubt he'll throw it back in my face :)

Don't the females have an awful record in this? It was on the radio last night (Newstalk). I think they said there have been only 3 female winners in the last 50 years or something.

Peeing down at the moment,if this is replicated at sandown the ground will surly suit Kingston hill and go against The Fugue and others, good bet KH at 8s at the mo?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 599 ✭✭✭Ian Whelan

Betbright are very big about O'Brien's two runners. 13/2 and 11/1. I backed both of them each way and will leave it at that. I still think Verrazano looked like he will improve a lot from his last run and for the extra distance. If you watch his American runs he looks like a horse with incredible potential.

Could end up a big price.

I like Verrazano for the eclipse - will appreciate the step up in trip as well as a return to a turning track. Was out for a spin in the Lockinge and put in a good performance at RA. Ryan Moore on board is a massive positive. 13/2 looks a decent price

Kingston hill must have a great chance here, 5s and 6s about him seems very fair.

coral going 4/1 on the fugue from 8.15am

    10 max

Couldn't have Verazzano because of stamina doubts. The Fugue is surely the best horse in it but can throw up a bad run every so often.

I fancy both of the 3yo's with maybe slight preference for night of thunder, not up to kingmans level at a mile lto but certainly no shame in that.

Why is Joey not on Verrazano??

Has the forecast worsened? I've lobbed a small bet on the fugue but would be worried if a lot of rain hits

It would be a problem for Verrazano as well. I really fancy this horse, being upped to 10 furlongs and with Ryan Moore replacing Joseph, but the possibility of softish ground is a right fcuking downer.

My gut reaction after watching Verrazano in the Queen Anne was that he needed further. He reminds me a lot of Declaration of War. I just hope the rain stays away from Esher tomorrow.

Yep, the only way anything else wins is if she runs lengths below her form.

Have went with Night Of Thunder because of the rain, these Dubawi colts love a bit of cut in the ground, I think the tactics the last time out were poor and if he is ridden with a bit of patience we will see him to better effect. Dont agree with The Fugue should be odds on these 3year olds have plenty of scope to improve and am always weary of backing mares.

There'll be no cut in the ground, rain has come too late.

    The Fugue opens at 5/2?
I think I'll play at those odds thank you!

A wet surface, yes, but no change in ground. Surprised by the drift tbh.

Verrazano very weak in the betting :(

Id say the rain falling is putting the punters off. Alot of these horses are firm ground specialists, that Royal Ascot was like a road not a chance it will be like that here today which would put me off The Fugue and O Briens pair.

i've had a saver on NOT. He's the only horse i can see upsetting The Fugue if everyone's at their best.

Disgraceful giving him that much of a lead 3 out.

Some poor runs there, well done to Hanagan taking advantage.
