TRX for building muscle?

I've been doing TRX classes for about 6 months and have seen improvement in my fitness level, endurance, and strength. We do mix it up with things like burpees, mountain climbers, 4 kg weight ball exercises etc.
But I'm wondering if this is enough to build muscle and tone? Instructor says to make the exercises (walking the feet in, etc) to go to failure - ie, hard enough to only do 5-6 reps. I figure it's like using your own body for resistance, so should work as more than cardio? Thoughts?

TRX is one single tool in your tool box.

Getting toned, fit and strong requires more than one tool.

You need to assess your diet & see are you eating in a way that will help you reach your goals.

It's 80% diet, 20% training if all you wanna do is look good
    Do some cardio
Do some weight training with barbells, dumbbells and kettlebells.
A 4kg med ball isn't worth a fiddlers fart to you.

I'm not sure you actually read my post as you seem to be offering some irrelevant information/not responding to my actual questions, but thanks for the comments.

If you read the post again, my answer is quite clearly that no, TRX by itself & circuit style training is NOT enough to build muscle & tone.

You need to do more than just TRX & I outlined what you need to do.

    No.
It's a start, but it's only a fraction if the work needed.

so the aforementioned barbells/dumbells, etc - are we talking 10-20 kg? Or more? I'm looking to build muscle tone for health and strength, not necessarily to look good. I mean, I think I look pretty good already! But I'm fairly weak.

Start light and add weight in a slow progressive manner week on week.
