And what was 'it/cool/in/hip' at the time?

I reign from the 90's, these guys were pretty big at the time:

All you people can't you see, can't you see
How your love's affecting our reality
    Every time we're down
    You can make it right
And that makes you larger than life

    Backstreets back alright! :P

Late 80s. The Iron curtain was about to fall. Growing up surrounded by people with big hairdos and loud music, oh those were the times. Loved the cartoons on weekend mornings :)

Being a teenager in the 90s was sh-t. The 80s would have been the biz for it I'd say. But then again, being a kid in the 80s was great.

Born in the very arse end of the 70s,but at least women looked hot in the 70s,they most certainly did not in the 80s,in the 90s the stooopid teens just raided all their parents wardrobe garb for the retro look, a st Vincent de paul bin for the grunge look and a circus clowns closet for the ravers- and I'm being as serious as cancer when I say that.

I think one common theme through the 60's/70's/80's/90's, parents hadn't a clue how to dress their kids! I look at some of clothes that I wore as kid. Christ on a bike. :pac:

Born in the second half of the 80's, teenager at the end of the 90's.

Growing up in the 90's was fine, but the 80's looks like it might have been more fun.

Born 92, but think I should have been born around 75. Feel I should have been part of the E and acid scene. I really would have enjoyed that!

I'm an 80s baby. Brilliant for cartoons. And the 90s ruled as a teenager. Music was deadly.

I was born in 1984, a black year for music as both Jackie Wilson and Marvin Gaye died / were killed. :(

Good year for movies though, with Beverly Hills Cop, Ghostbusters, Gremlins, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Karate Kid, The Neverending Story, Once Upon a Time in America, Paris Texas, Terminator and This is Spinal Tap came out! :)

Also the Apple Macintosh was first released which is meh..

Feel the very same, but I was only born three years after '75. The best time to have been born for acid house would have been the late 60s/early 70s I reckon. Late teens/early 20s for 1988-91 - feck yeh!

My parents are nearly the same age as you - I hate that they're knocking on the door of 70 (no offence like :pac:) but at the same time, they're in fantastic "nick". They don't seem old at all - attitude and looking after yourself make a BIG difference. :)

I know there's a societal imperative to display that kind of attitude, but really, let's be honest, you won't be rocking much at 80 something

My gran (aged 97) was soldiering away by herself up to her late 80s/early 90s - extremely frail now and living at my aunt's, but she had great innings so she had.

My favourite saying of all time: 'Keep her lit!'

I know a woman in her 70's who took on a 6 month old baby and raised her. I think I turned out okay. She was some woman! If I'm like her in my 70's/80's, I'll be happy. :)

You were watching that earlier too? :D

I was watching it here and my wife commented that I looked a bit like Johnny Logan (they showed "What's another year?"). I nearly choked I was laughing so hard, not because of what my wife actually said, but because I was reminded of the time I was about 12 and the next door neighbour who was 15 at the time, she was clinging to me like a wet rag as we slow danced and singing her lungs out to "Hold me now"... :o

That day it wasn't just music that died, it took my dignity with it :pac:

I was born in the 70's and grew up in the 90's. I feel pretty lucky about it, I left school in the legendary summer of 95, and I was alive at a time when dance music and raves were taking off. I was a raver, i first saw the prodigy play in 92 when I was 15 and was hooked on it. I feel like I had a prime seat for the birth of dance music and the culture that it brought. Hip hop, jungle and break beats make for a pretty interesting teenage experience.
