I'm figuring this is going to be the more entertaining early game.

But seriously, how long must it take Ghana to get from the team bus to the dressing room?

Eder starts by the way, so Portugal have effectively thrown in the towel and eliminated themselves before even kicking off.

Still nil all, both sides have had great chances to score. Ronaldo missed a great opportunity from point blank with a header. It really could go either way.

So rumours of Ghana's disarray have been somewhat exaggerated then...

They're playing well here, although Portugal aren't great so judge that however you like!

Eder is the worst striker I can recall seeing at a WC outside of minnow nations like North Korea, NZ, etc. It's not that he fails to excel at anything, it is that he is utterly useless at everything, and that is not an exaggeration. There is nothing I would rank him more than 4/10 at, and that would be generous.

He is a 26 year old striker, has played his when career in Portugal (good but not the toughest), chunks in their lower leagues... and has only got more than 6 goals twice in his 8 year career (and only 10 and 16 at that, five years apart).

It's the one position that Portugal have struggled with for a number of years now.

Bit of a silly looking attempt to clear by the defender, I feel sorry for him.

Damn it, missed the goal. This looks like a better game than the other one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,101 ✭✭✭NUTZZ

Portugal have their tails up now but still look so poor in the final third. No one can put in a decent ball for Ronaldo from the wings.

Yeah, a lot of their crossing has been pretty woeful.

That goal would never have happened if that ref hadn't been in the way about 15 seconds earlier. Unlucky.

Portugal not just put Ronaldo down the middle lacking a good CF this years.

Both of these teams are brutal

Portugal need 4 now just to go level with USA

Why catch when you can punch seems to be the goal keepers mantra for this WC and that eyeful of ball sack has led to me loosing my train of taught .

Yeah, that was quite poor from the keeper. He just batted it to Ronaldo for an easy enough goal.

    In protest?

He's still been their best player!

Ronaldo been very poor in front of goal this tournament.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,762 ✭✭✭bmcc10

Did Portugal move Ronaldo through the middle? Plenty of chances, If they done it earlier in the tournament they might have been better off then some of the duds they have up front.

    no !

because their are limits to a players physical capabilities , portugal are useless , it would mean playing nearly two dozen less matches per year

Bye Bye Ronnie and co, Stop stinking up tournaments please.

'Ronnie' under performing again, shame as it's always nice to see the big names to perform on the big stage, but Clint and Messi march on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

How poor was Ronaldo's finishing? If he'd been on it, Portugal would have won by three or four, nearly everytime he had a chance he hit it straight at the goalkeeper.

Sad because it's his last chance to perform at the World Cup. He's never done it before and he'll be 33 by the time the next one rolls around.

It was shocking how he gave up four goals to Germany alright.

I know Portugal aren't great apart from Ronaldo but they created so many easy chances for him today

Portugal clearly should have brought Bebe, that mans a genius :D

He should have wiped those four goals out today. His finishing was terrible.

TBH...he'd have been better than Eder.

He's been a huge disappointment in this tournament. One of the few big names to not perform.

He had a shocker. Bottled it big time really.
