Anyhow while I'm on I thought the right punishment for our star player would have been Immediate expulsion from the World Cup along with ayear or two ban form the national team and a massive fine. Something like a 5 million pound fine.

On Lallana I hope he isn't another Harry Kewell

Don't think he'd bite yer hand off for that offer

Mike65 closing his account I like to say a fond fair well to him and I hope that he is back posting very soon.

What did he get banned for?

    Is Mike65 gone? wtf

    Really?

Well fifa talk about Liverpool just being unfortunate victims in the punishment. By slapping him with a massive fine he is the only one being punished. Anyhow it would only be a couple of months salary

Speaking of which, do lfc still have to pay him during his ban?

The one thing about Lallana, is that regardless of what happens he will work his bollix off.

Downing didn't have the mentality or the ability to be a success.

You're forgetting he scored when he wanted.

Yeah, I see the sense in punishing the player rather than his club but 5 million pounds is obscene.

So is the 200k a week he earns, but that's the world we live in

Liverpool are working their way through the legal minefield of striker Luis Suarez’s four-month ban for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini but are still a long way from even considering launching a challenge to Fifa.
The club have dismissed claims by Suarez’s lawyer Alejandro Balbi that their representatives are meeting with him and the player’s agent Pere Guardiola in Barcelona today.
Chief executive Ian Ayre and Guardiola have a good relationship and there has always been an open line of communication between the pair and Press Association Sport understands Ayre has been in regular contact with principal owner John Henry from the moment the Suarez incident happened on Tuesday evening.
Whether the meeting in Barcelona ultimately takes place or not — it is understood Balbi was scheduled to accompany Suarez on a flight back to Montevideo following his expulsion from the World Cup — Liverpool are still trying to assimilate all the details and implications of the punishment handed down to the Uruguay international.

I reckon on appeal what will happen is that the stadium and training bans get revoked, but the overall length will not. FIFA can't be seen to reduce something this high profile, and probably introduced the more petty bits to allow them to remove them on appeal.

Re. Gafferino's article just above. 'Balbi' is the lawyer's second name and that of Suarez's wife. Wonder if that's just a coincidence or if there's a connection there.

Apologises if its already been posted. Decent write up on Suarez by Dónal Óg Cusack.

Suarez is just another crazy mixed up kid, not a bad person

Would like to put forward a motion conferring 'The' status on Mike65, he was always a fan of it and I'm sure it's what he would have wanted.

I have a feeling that a deal is broadly agreed between Liverpool and Barcelona. Especially in light of Luis Enrique's comments.

Might explain our sudden activity in the transfer market. I hope Alexis is part of the overall agreement with Barca. I have a feeling he is.

Liverpool moving rapidly in the transfer market. Deals for Origi & Lallana almost done and now a move for Benfica's Lazar Markovic too.

While Lallana is a good player I feel we are paying 5-10 million too much for him. Dont know anything about Markovic and didnt know anything about Origi until I seen him in the world cup. He does look an exciting player.

Have to say so far the signings arent getting me overly excited and outside of Lallana, no player there strongly competing to be in the first 11.

Would love if the rumours of Sanchez came true but I just can't see it. Too many times we have been disappointed.

If we loose Suarez to the ban or being sold, then signing a top class striker is a must. Sanchez would probably fill the role somewhat but we should be adding to quality not replacing it.

I know Chelsea have money on another level but look at their signings so far :(

No point worrying about teams with infinite amounts of money, it'll make your head hurt.

If we sign Markovic, I assume thats the end of the interest in Shaqiri.

Hope the Markovic deal is true, watched him all season for Benfica he was quality.

£10 million for Divock Origi apparently. A steal according to Jonathan Northcroft!

£20 million for Markovic. Ian Ayre on a mission.

Since I started following this thread and posting in it, Mike has seemed to me to be the cornerstone of it. Pity he has left but perhaps he had enough. Hopefully he comes back in a different guise.
