club ban is bigger than International ban.

    Yes that makes fúcking sense.

Uruguay probably arrange a load of friendlies every week against Mexico or someone so his ban is up by Xmas!

I think the mental impact of this will be extremely tough. He already blames the English press for the way they treated him last time out, this time the uruguayans are framing it as a fit up by the english & italian press (surely tv images should reduce the whole photoshop debate?) , can't see him happily returning to blighty.

We're gonna have to house him in Dublin or Belfast, fly him in and out to do his work and let him live in Ireland. We'll look after you nibbles, never mind those nasty english!

This has to be one of the worst decisions that FIFA have ever taken. Total nonsense.

    Errr well..

Uruguay Representative claims the federation is considering not playing vs Colombia because of the Suárez ban.

In fairness I think Uruguay are just about crazy enough to do it. Hadn't realised they are a tiny country, pop. around 3M and football mad. They've got this "fighting spirit" thing in their culture where this could get ugly fast for FIFA.

    I'm rooting for Uruguay.

Some of you boys are clued in but some of you are off your heads.

Liverpool haven't been punished. Your player has bitten opponents three times now. He's been punished and rightly so. Liverpool are collateral damage. Unfortunate but necessary. He bit someone three times. FIFA aren't the cause of the problem. Suarez is.

As for the suggestion FIFA are getting back at the FA over Qatar? Really? Really?

From what I've read, once the initial 4 month period is over he's allowed to play friendlies with the ban only counting in competitive fixtures.

Considering he can't train with the club while banned, how long do we think it'll take him to get up to speed?
    .
but can the club train with him? training is moved to Luis's gaff.

I'd imagine they will appeal this or find a loophole....training behind closed doors, sneak him in etc

I'm sure the next player to bite three times will get a similar ban. You think Suarez got punished solely for who he is rather than what he's done and his history?

If a player commits a particularly nasty incident on the pitch. he gets a lengthy ban. It's happened before. It'll happen again.

But he did so in a Uruguay shirt and Liverpool are being punished more than Uruguay. And Liverpool cannot even appeal it. And he was able to play for Uruguay when he has banned for Liverpool.

Also Fifa have not really don't this blanket ban before.

Those would be my main grievances.

I can see this appealed and the training/ground ban removed bbut the game ban remaining.

No matter what anyone says and any excuses we can make for him he was a ****ing idiot to do what he did.

I'm torn on it as I have four figures on Colombia @ 27/20. If Uruguay refuse to play, would Colombia be awarded the win? You'd think so. But the books would argue against paying out or some silly crap like that. All the while, FIFA would probably extend his ban knowing how bonkers they are :pac:

Ok lads - Did anyone put money on Suarez to be the top EPL goalscorer for 2014-2015?

You understand that there has been no intention to punish Liverpool though right? That you can't properly punish a player without his national team and/or club suffering too. Right?

Easy to have a pop at FIFA but you really should look at your own player and ask questions of him. He has bitten opponents three times. Stop and think about that. Really think about it. The man got what he deserved.

Suarez is the cause of the problem I agree.....he should be banned, I agree, but 4 months is ridiculous especially when it affects other clubs

FIFA get out of this nicely, missed the rest of the World Cup, and a few friendlies, and maybe South American Championships or whatever its called, and then one of the best players in the World is free to qualify for the next FIFA World Cup........he should be banned for 9 matches plus the equivalent of 4 months for FIFA International tournaments, eg 4 months = 16 weeks, say 20 FIFA games.

We cant even sell him now

I understand the sentiment, but many did say that it was a risk to keep the player after the last incident. Rodgers took the risk on him. He benefited last season. It's hurt him now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,816 ✭✭✭Benzino

So Uruguay are going to appeal the ban. Does this mean the ban does not kick into effect until the appeal is over?

Have money on him to be top scorer in World Cup :(:(:(

I like Luis, and when 4 months is up he'd be the first name on my team sheet. But he has to cop the fcuk on!!

Liverpool are going to suffer because of Luis, not because of FIFA. He owes the club big time and better be sharp and on his game from the start of his return. I agree with his playing ban but the not training part is just bullsh...

    .

Yeah, I'm just really not sure anyone thinks FIFA are directly punishing Liverpool. I think you're getting caught up in turn of phrase. "This situation is unfair on Liverpool", may be better. They guided him through a fairly incident free season and showed that it can be done. Which sounds like something that shouldn't have to be commended, but with nutcase, it really, really is.
