The following details are of an event which took place and all names have been replaced by adequate alternatives.

Read, don't enjoy, be shocked and appalled.

"Funny story I forgot to share yesterday...

I trained in a new gym last night for the first time. I roll out, warm up, put my squat shoes on and head toward the squat rack. There's a lad squatting, warming up with 60kg, and I ask can I jump in with him. He smiles and says "yeah of course!... Do you want me to strip the bar for you?". I broke out into laughter, shook my head and with a smirk said "no, you're grand pal", while my friend Gimp2 shouts at him "she'd out lift you mate!".

He was squatting 105kg for 2 or 3 reps, and had to drop the weight back to 100kg. While I whacked out 130kg for 3. Yeah, I wiped the smirk from his face as he stood there in shock.

I squat, bro! Do you even lift!? It really annoys me when a guy just presumes a girl can't lift heavy - that we aren't as strong as they are. But unfortunately that is the misconception out there. To the contrary, girls are strong too! Don't ask if I need help loading the bar, or to strip the bar, just because you think I won't be capable of it. We are very well able to do it by ourselves. Leave us be and let us train! "

Women aren't as strong as men though, and he was right to assume you'd want the bar stripped for your first set, why no warm up?

I think everyone is missing the point!! They're are plenty of female lifters who are strong(her) than guys but it's the pathetic, immature, juvenile behavior which is betrayed is the true underlining issue her.

People should have respect for others. Above there is zero!!

If any man, woman or child wants to join me in the squat rack, I'll always offer to strip the bar because most people want to warm up with the bar first.

I find a chip on my shoulder adds about 10kg to the bar.

    He was being polite ffs

I'm sure there are rude people but smirking and laughing and making fun of someone being polite is really not the way to go

I haven't worked in with anyone but I imagine that 2 people loading and stripping it together will get everyone through their sets more easily and quickly

I'm so confused who is meant to be the Bellend in this story? Is it everyone?

She's some woman if she's warming up with 60.

And usually a fella will have the bar racked too high for a girl anyway.
Jesus he was just being nice, it's you , strong and all as you are, that comes out the worse of this story.

She's saying "wannabe bellend is" so maybe it's up to us to finish the sentence. Or maybe something belonging to a wannabe bellend. I don't know what that is either though.

Seriously I'd be all with the OP if there was any indication that the guy was making fun of her or being rude or sneering or anything...
