    CyberGhost SPECIAL EDITION VPN (12M)
12 Months Prepaid - Most Wanted Servers USA, DE, RO, CH, CZ
    Unlimited traffic volume included
    Unlimited bandwidth included
Access to Most Wanted Servers: US, German, Romanian, Czech Republic and Swiss
Additional protection for mobile devices (PPTP, L2TP/IPSec)
Guaranteed availability without any waiting times
    Incl. Premium support
    5 Devices

I think that this is a pretty good deal. It's not their full Premium service as it's limited to 5 servers but for a fiver for a year I won't complain.

It's not the premium one, but you can actually use all the premium servers if you add them as l2tp servers, so it's great value

Picked up a worth of privacy one last year which expires on the 28th of July, can these be stacked?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,773 ✭✭✭savemejebus

I'm the same, from what i read on their forum you can't stack but you can wait till your current deal expires and then just apply the new code.

I got it last year. You can use UK, Ireland servers etc by changing the first two letters on the server to GB or IE etc. This works on all PPTP, L2TP and Open VPN.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 528 ✭✭✭WIZWEB

Apparently their paid serial codes "never expire" so might be handy to buy a couple of years in advance @ €5 a pop ;)

Any chance of explaining this. I have an asterix beside UK meaning not included in your current plan. How do I get around this?

I just paid the €5.00 and got an activation key. Used it to extend my existing account. So now I have 389 days instead of 24. :)

Was your existing account a worth of privacy one?

Below is a list of servers and their two letter codes. Just use the two letters at the start for your country of choice.

    http://www.cyberghostvpn.com/en_gb/server

    E.g... Change USA to UK.......

    us.pptp.cyberghostvpn.com change to gb.pptp.cyberghostvpn.com

Edit: I see they are now using the format us-wop.pptp.cyberghostvpn.com on accounts. Mine works fine on the old server settings as used above. Not sure if it works with 'wop' in the server address.

Thank you for the post savemejebus.

I have been using last year's 5 euro offer, and i just bought another year and it added the days.

I use OpenVPN on my Phone and Tablet mostly and works perfectly for iPlayer etc

I've just bought 2 subscriptions and activated them on top of my remaining worth of privacy one. I now have 753 days of protection available. I was going to buy more but don't want to be taking the mick.

Thanks for heads up OP. I just bought the one year but I just want to confirm it's still working for countries other then the specified 5 as I'm in work at moment so can't test it. I'm currently living overseas so it would be very handy if I could use this for Irish/UK websites and players. If not no problem as its great price and I'll still be using it for its American services.

I bought this, and set my location to the US , uninstalled netflix from my nexus 10, reinstalled and logged back in. I think it brought me to the dutch netflix ??

Also can this be used on the PS3 or PS4 ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,773 ✭✭✭savemejebus

If you want to set your ps3/ps4 up to connect to the internet through your PC then you can use it on the consoles, otherwise i don't think it will work.

Weird that you are getting the dutch service, don't think you needed to go through the hassle of uninstalling and reinstalling though, the netflix app should just start up and check region.

Bought this last night, I set it up to use a uk server on my iPad as posted earlier in this thread. Went to BBC iplayer in safari and tried to play something it wouldn't play. I then turned on the VPN and tried again, it now plays anything I want in the iplayer.

Ok so I just bought it there. Here is what I have found.

The only servers you can connect to are Cheque Republic, Switzerland, Germany, USA, Romania. Also you should note that some of these servers will not allow any torrent traffic, and I have found that the ones that do allow torrent traffic are very slow. Five euro wont break the bank but if I had known what I know now I probably wouldnt have bothered getting it

Did you try manually making the connection to the other servers as explained earlier I've been doing that for 11months

I did indeed and was able to get onto a UK server using a manual L2TP connection, only problem is every time i try the BBC iplayer it fails to load the page at all while other load fine, seems as though they are blocked. Anyone have the server that is unblocked?

I'm just wondering how you managed to get the UK server working this way assuming your using same deal i.e. which address you used.
I've got the US VPN working fine using this method but anytime I try to use a UK version it fails. I've tried variations of the US server that works us-se3.openvpn.cyberghostvpn.com (GB, UK etc) but keep getting get error message that it cannot resolve host address.

I'll try connecting via a manual L2TP connection using above UK address next.

Hi. I recently got a roku3 streaming stick. Never used or set up a VPN. Kids are bugging me to get US Netflix. Does anyone know if you can set up this VPN service on the roku streaming stick? Thanks

AFAIK, you cannot do this. It must be used at Router level or on a client machine like a laptop.

Yep, you need to setup the manual l2tp connection, any of their servers will work with it

I have always had issues with L2TP and i used PPTP instead.

They are definitely trying to close the loopholes i think.

You can no longer download the OpenVPN configuration files with the .crt and .key files. It will only let you download a single .ovpn file.

It can be edited in notepad so i need to try it later as i am not at home.

I noticed that .ovpn file though you can edit it through that OpenVPN for Android app but haven't had that much luck going in that way.

I've also tested it (via l2tp) and got the BBC iPlayer working on my android phone though the quality leaves a lot to be desired but kind of expected. I'm using uk.l2tp.cyberghostvpn.com - is there an alternate server that we can (ab)use or that someone has had more luck with?

I have 3 VPNs set up on my PC as well now for GB, IE and US which was quite easy to set up and all doing the job.
