iPhone 5 Internal Speaker Failure

    Hello,

A family member owns an iPhone 5 or 5s which is over a year old.

The internal speaker has failed, and will only work when you press with quite a bit of pressure onto the screen, just to the right of the home button. It can work for a while, until it gets enough of a jolt.

I read about the "fix" online, so I guess it is somewhat common.

Does anyone have experience on this? Can any old phone repair shop fix it or is it better to send it to Apple? Would it be a free fix?

    Thanks

Must be a 5 if it's over a year old. Is it much outside the warranty? If not if try apple and see what they say.
