Pharmacist gave me wrong prescription

    Maybe this is for Consumer Issues idk

    I was prescribed antibiotics, 3 a day for a week in conjunction with the same dosage of Ibuprofen. For some reason when he gave me the meds the pharmacist told me to take one a day of the pain-killer.

    Anyway when I checked this morning I actually only have 2 sheets of the antibiotic (14), even though the box they came in says 21.

    Can I just go back to them and tell them? Obviously I don't have any proof, but they'd hardly think I'm trying to pull a fast one, it's not as if they have any recreational value.

    I'd talk with them anyway. If you are prescribed antibiotics, it is supposed to be important that you take the full course. They might have messed up and given you the wrong amount, or they might have just used the wrong box. Give them a ring and find out.

    They either tried to;
    A) screw you over
    B) made an honest mistake

    A professional service like a pharmacy won't have tried to screw someone over on a small thing like that.

    So it's an honest good faith mistake.

    Go talk to them on that assumption. Chances are they'll top up the prescription. And even if they don't - pay the extra, take it on the chin and remind yourself at some point in the past or future you've ****ed up too and someones had to deal with it.

    It happened me once, and the pharmacy just gave me the rest when I went back and explained.
    No bother or fuss.

    They will often split up boxes, even cut the blister packs with a scissors. So someone else in the pharmacy might have taken a strip out and replaced the box on the shelf, next person might not have checked inside and presumed they were all there.

    The only other thing I can think of is the 3 a day were possibly say 100mg each and the only pills they had were 150mg versions, so 2 is equal to 3 -but they should have said that.
