How many calories?

    I'm 5'7" and 73kg. I've put on about 14kg in the past 4 years due to studying and working and want to lose it all. How many calories per day should I be eating to get a reasonable result in the next few months? I've started exercising, including weights, but I know that diet that makes the difference.

    Check out scooby's workshop and use the calorie calculator there. It will give a pretty good estimation of what you would need to maintain and you can work off that.

    You can use it to get a rough idea of what your BMR is (the number of calories your body needs to function) and your TDEE (the number of calories you burn in an average day). Eat more than your BMR and less than your TDEE and you'll start to move in the right direction.

    You can use MyFitnessPal to get a good idea of the calores you take in if you track your intake accurately. More often than not, you won't need to continue doing that long term or anything as you get familiar with what's in the portion sizes you have.
