There's some lovely Mario /Luigi/Yoshi/Peach themed Wii remotes in Smyths.
I have an excellent Giotek GC2 controller for my WiiU and it's is much better than the Pro controller, with the button stick arrangement of the 360 pad, perfect for FPS.

€45 each and yes to Motion Plus. Look lovely they do. Although you can get Wii Party U with a sexy black Motion Plus controller with the jacket for the same price.

You have to get at least 2 wiimotes and nunchucks. And gamepad or gamepad pros for fighting games. 2 Guitars, a mic and 2 sets of drums (one rockband, one GH). a few Wii Wheels for driving. Motion Pluses if you didn't get M+ controllers. Those horrible dildo-y grips to stop you dropping the Wiimote. Charging cradles. Appropriate plastic grips for your games - tennis rackets, swords, golf clubs, rifle, fishing rod, The Nyko pistol grips are awesome for a bit of House of the Dead Overkill etc ; A couple of tapping boxes. The Cooking Mama baby. The Wii Pii which isn't a real thing but looks awesome. A pair of 6 inch Stiiletto hiils for when Bayonetta comes out (you'll need another 2 wiimotes, and I've yet to find a manufacturer for my prototype).

For M+ controllers look for cheap copies of Wii Party or Wii Play Motion etc with the bundled WiiMote. Usually cheaper or the same as the Wii Mote on it's own, usually in a cooler colour and you can trade in the game to offset the damage (albeit not for much).

Tesco do a surprisingly large amount of the peripherals, usually at sky high prices but every now and again they flog them for peanuts in an attempt to clear the shelves.

If you dont mind 2nd hand, try CEX. Wii remotes with the motion plus are around €30, and can get nunchuks for near a fiver.

I got a few pro controllers online there. Cost me 25 euro delivered per pro controller. Took a week to arrive. I would have spent that week searching town for shops that sold them so I'm happy enough with them.

So ye, your best bet is to get them online.

Online is a big pond, can you be more specific?? :)

Also whats so good about the pro controllers? other than being comfy

In terms of benefits, theres none really, other than the comfort, and having the option of an xbox style controller for fighting games or whatever. I suppose you could also say that the battery will last days without a charge. It actually comes with a USB cable so u can hook it up to ur laptop for emulators. I think I read about early drivers for Windows so thats another benefit.

I really don't like the Pro controllers, and I have both the Wii one and the WiiU specific one.
The sticks are in the wrong place and when you are playing an FPS they feel just wrong, at least to me they do.
The Giotek one I mentioned is 360 stick/button style and it includes a switch so it'll operate both Wii and WiiU games, I play MK8 with it and it's excellent, it's also cheaper than the official Nintendo stick.
Lots of people use the same model controller on their 360 and PS3, loving it there too.

I'll disagree with Cidey about the Pro controllers - apart from the painful price, there's nothing wrong with them. Battery lasts an awful lot longer than the Gamepad, it's much more comfortable to use too (over the pad or a wii remote). Stick placement is fine also.

There are some games (or parts of games) that it doesn't work as a replacement for the Gamepad (I think Nintendo Land multiplayer) and the Captain Toad levels in Mario 3D World for example.

I didn't bother with that Giotek jobbie, even though it seems to have gotten decent reviews - just a personal preference with me and consoles - I never bother with third party controllers (outside of arcade sticks).

But sure once that GC controller adapter comes out then we can all use the greatest console controller ever made! :D

    You can already get one!
It's the one I mentioned on the A&R forum, it makes the Wii see the Gamecube pad as a Wii classic controller.
It's not as versatile perhaps as the official one but it will probably do the trick.

Oh yeah, I forgot about your link, and Mayflash are pretty good with those adapters, got one for the PC a while back. That link says they don't ship to Ireland or the UK though? Probably just wait for the official one assuming it's not going to be mad expensive over here (thought I heard a $20 or $30 price tag).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,943 ✭✭✭nix

I went with the official, it was near enough the same price as the giotek and i heard the battery isnt as good as official.

Infact i just purchased 11 items off amazon, I went a bit mad

    pro controller, wii remote+nunchuck

    xenoblades chronicles
    zelda skyward and twilight
resi evil 0 (never got to finish it on my GC and i miss survival horror resi evils)
    zombiU (only like 8 quid)
    red steel 2
    deus ex HR directors cut
    metroid prime 3

Safe to say i wont be bored for the next year or two anyway :D

I know you have to wait a while but I got 4 wiimotes and nunchucks for around 40euro if I remember correctly from DX.com

Personally I think you'd be mad to pay the full prices over here for something that works as far as I can see just as well albeit look and feel cheaper... it is cheaper.

did anyone play with Afterglow Pro Controller for Wii U? Gamestop is selling them for 30 EUR - which is not bad price, but how about quality?

I havent tried the wii u one but I have one for the 360 and I find it grand. Some crazy colours come off it in play. iirc you can turn it off to avoid seizures. :pac:

edit, 30euro seems like a great price too based on amazon pricing of £40 sterling.

edit.edit...just thinkin about this some more are you sure they're selling them for €30? If so I might go in today and grab three of them for Mario Kart and Smash multi player mayhem. You can use the wii motes and nunchucks which in fairness isnt that bad for mario kart but knowing my mates they'll want proper controllers. €90 for 3 new controllers doesnt seem like a bad option.

 the sarcasm has flown right over your head it seems :P:pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,943 ✭✭✭nix

haha i was thinking it was sarcasm alright, but its hard to be sure over the internet :P

Also im sad to find out the pro controller only works on wii u games :(

Hard to get my head around the wii remote and nunchuck on resi evil

And wtf with it needing real batteries?? do they get used up fast or like tv remotes and last ages?

Would it be worth getting the Classic Controller Pro?

I'll have remotes coming out of my ass at this rate :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,407 ✭✭✭Pac1Man

Nix, did you get Xenoblade for a reasonable price? I've been on the lookout for a while but they seem to bottom out at around €60 where I've been searching.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,943 ✭✭✭nix

nah its the only game i had to fork out near rip off price for, i paid £44 which is about €54, but i know its a game that will defo be worth its money in hours played so i didnt mind.

I have been wanting to play a Xeno game since Xenogears (Never got to play it) :D

BTW, i managed to find my old game cube controllers, is this the adaptor id need to hook it up to play wii games?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/GC-Controller-Adapter-Wii/dp/B00BS520SG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1403638775&sr=8-2&keywords=gamecube+controller+to+wii+u

Or is there a better/cheaper one? or would i be better off nabbing a Classic Controller Pro?

My last purchase for the next few months i swear!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,407 ✭✭✭Pac1Man

€54 is not a bad price. I regret passing up the chance to get for €45 a couple of months back though. It's one of those rare 'buy and never sell' games imo.

Then you must be kicking yourself for missing it in Argos for €29.99 with the controller bundled. Or was it €19.99? Something ridiculous. There was one copy in Athlone or Clonmel that kept popping up in stock every couple of days, noharm keeping an eye on checkargos

It was around 20 then they "cynically" raised the price to 30.
I have a copy so I can post pictures if it helps... ;)
