Beer and upset stomach

    Hey guys,

In the past few months I've noticed that my stomachs reaction to beer is getting steadily worse. It began with just a bit of bloating the day after a good session to now an almost immediate bad reaction to even a couple of glasses of beer. Symptoms are bloating, cramps, gas etc. Mainly.

Now obviously I have decided to just cut out beer. Even though I hate most other alcoholic drinks :( ... But I just wondered if anyone experienced similar? Could this be a sign of intolerance to a particular food or can you just develop intolerance to beer? Thanks

This is probably something you could see a doc about

I had the same about ten years ago. I cut it out like you and drank wine for about a year. After a while I drank ciders for a few years and then back into Guinness. Now I can drink larger again.

My body did get sick of one and I could just slowly rotate. They've all got yeast, so there's no cutting out that but possibly there was an intolerance of something that developed from having too much that faded when I restricted it.

No medical opinions here - you could get tested for wheat intolerance/coeliac to see if that is an issue.
