Name That Art

Hiding beneath a cover image (which can be nearly anything) is a famous artwork, the goal is to correctly identify the name of the artwork & artist, get it correct then camouflage the next piece of art (using Photoshop, MS Paint or whatever image editing program you're into).

Deface the art image in any way necessary to prevent it from being detected by reverse search engines such as Google images & Tineye.

Some sites you can use for uploading images are here & here.

Written clues often give the game away too quickly, so instead just reveal a little more of the underlying image as & when a clue is required.

    First-up.

How to play (Thanks Red Hare)

Basically the purpose is to name the Artwork which has been posted in a disguised format.

If you guess correctly then it is your turn to post....

    1) Find an Artwork
    2) Disguise the Artwork using whatever means you find handy ( Microsoft paint, Sumo Paint, Gimp, photoshop). Remember at first you only want to reveal a little bit of the Artwork. Others may use reverse search engines to find the original artwork, such as Tineye or Google reverse search.

    3) Upload your image to Boards.ie; There are many ways - this is how I do it ...

    a) Go to Wthax.org
    b) choose the image file and press the "do it" button
    c) copy the code which is produced - BBC Code ( full)
    d) paste the code into a post on Boards.ie

    4) If after a few days the Artwork hasn't been correctly guessed - reveal a little bit more of the Artwork ,,, and so on until the artwork is guessed.

    5) Verbal clues may be used along the way to help the people guess correctly

If you'd put monalisa's face on top of that chick it'd be a lot easier!

    Good idea.

Would I be right to assume the painting underneath is the same proportions as the picture covering it?

If you look very closely - you will see that the painting underneath is a little bit larger than the covering image!

Yep, the 'telescopic boobs' image is just stretched over to fit the same proportions as the image its hiding, I haven't cropped or interfered with the ratio of the painting itself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,195 ✭✭✭GrumpyMe

Well - not being the proud owner of the piece I've to rely on t'Internet for the original and the title:
Claude Monet, Study of a Figure: Woman with a Parasol, Facing left, 1886, Tempera on Canvas.

Verbal hint was "Less money is more Monet"

Its this monstrosity by van minnen,

I understand that art is subjective, but Most of this fella stuff ranks alongside the Garbage pail kids in my book.

Actually no, the GPK's were better as they didnt hold any pretences and had the ability to convey one simple often humorous concept.

this fella is trying too hard to be 'edgey' but his stuff seems hollow and a bit tryhard
